Introduction: - Tell me about yourself!

Thank you, sir/mam.

I was born in Kolkata but grew up in small suburbs of Madhya Pradesh and
Maharashtra. Growing up surrounded by untouched nature, I was intrigued by the
diverse forms of life and their unique ways of surviving and thriving despite adversity.
Since then, I have strived to imbibe this resilience in everything I do.
Fascinated by biology, I decided to pursue science after 10th std and went on to
complete my integrated B. Tech-M. Tech degree in Biotechnology, securing
internships at prestigious institutions during the course. Upon completion of my
degree; I joined Biocon Biologics as an Operational Excellence executive where I
assisted in OpEx experiments focused on determining critical process parameters
yielding highest percentage of product purity at optimal process efficiency.

During my first year at Biocon, I was selected to attend CBT’s Course series on
“Design of experiment” at IIT Delhi which ignited in me a desire to further grow my
network and visibility. I decided to shift my role to Quality Management Systems
(QMS) executive which opened doors for me to expand my network within the
organization, working with cross-functional teams on incident investigation, through
data analysis, reporting and root cause analysis in a time-line driven environment. I
was appreciated for 100% on-time incident closures which seemed to be a rarity in
the nature of the work I was executing. I closed each incident with effective CAPAs
that have helped reduce the occurrence of repeat incidents by 50%, thus increasing
the robustness of the overall manufacturing process.

In my personal life, I enjoy hobbies like reading, writing, and baking. My dream is to
write and publish a book someday.

Job Responsibilities: -
Worked as an Operational Excellence (OpEx) executive at Biocon Biologics for
MSAT Insulin Downstream Productions team for initial 9 months of my work
experience wherein

1. Learnt the hands-on functioning of RP-HPLC as a protein purification method

to isolate (Preparative RPHPLC) and identify (Analytical RPHPLC) insulin and
insulin analogues from upstream process solution.
2. Conducted OpEx experiments (RPHPLC and CIEX) in accordance to the
Design of Experiment (DoE) to determine the optimum RPHPLC conditions
for higher process efficiency and product purity.

3. Collaborated with the team to finalize and draft the OpEx process document
for insulin and insulin analogues with the obtained optimum process
parameters to be adopted by the manufacturing department to enhance
process efficiency, productivity and product purity.

4. Trained the manufacturing department shop-floor officials on the said

documents to ensure a seamless integration of the developed OpEx process
into the current work frame, thus bringing about a uniform process OpEx to
the manufacturing facility from the lab.

Worked as a QMS executive at Biocon Biologics for MSAT Insulin Downstream

Productions for the subsequent 14 months contributing to the following areas:

1. Authoring QMS Documentation to address process and product related

discrepancies including Out of Specifications (OOS), Out of Trend (OOT) and
Deviations along with organized tracking of all action items and completed
items for future referencing.

2. Led strategic dialogue among key stakeholders from Production, MSAT, and
QA teams (CFTs) to provide detailed briefings on discrepancies.

3. Fostered thorough feedback and collaborative decision-making, resulting in

the development of effective solutions and resolution strategies.

4. Anchored extensive data collation from production batch records, equipment

plots, in-process parameter tracking and QC sample records at the time of
reported discrepancy.
5. Conducted data mining and analytical representation of data through tabular
and graphical methods to identify and isolate the root cause(s) and potential
contributing factors.

6. Contributed to robust CAPA formulation and CAPA implementation, including

follow-through and employee training to enhance CAPA awareness and
effectiveness.

Accomplishments: -
1. Selected at IIT Kharagpur for summer internship (Summer of 2019) in the
Microbiology and Immunology Lab and worked on “Expression and
purification of Entamoeba Surface proteins”

2. Completed my Dissertation project at CSIR-IICB, Kolkata (January 2021-May

2021) and worked in Infectious diseases and Immunology Division on “Action
of putative Synthetic Peptides against NS1 Assembly as an Antiviral
Therapeutic towards Dengue Virus”.

3. Represented my organization (Biocon Biologics, Bengaluru) at the “December

2022 CBT Course series” conducted by Centre of Excellence
Biopharmaceutical Technology (CBT) at IIT-Delhi.
4. 100% on-time Incident closure while working as QMS executive with effective
CAPA formulation and implementation.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Strengths: -

1. Time-line driven; Problem-solving and initiative

During OpEx experiments, we faced a bottleneck due to limited availability of

RPHPLC systems, impacting our ability to complete experiment sets within
critical timeframes. Recognizing the urgency and potential impact on project
timelines, I proactively identified another team utilizing the same instruments. I
established a collaborative arrangement with them, offering reciprocal
support. This involved coordinating schedules to maximize instrument usage
across both teams, ensuring timely completion of our experiments while also
establishing a valuable inter-team resource for future needs.

2. Detail-oriented;

Working as a QMS executive handling critical incident element like OOS and
OOTs, being able to close each element with a viable root cause and effective
CAPA was possible due to my inherent attention to detail which aided
identification of discrepancies in manufacturing CSV files from instruments,
RPHPLC cycle real-time cycle plots, Hold tank plots, batch records and QC
records to identify the root cause and the associated contributing factors.

3. Effective-technical comprehension and communication, good verbal and

Written Ability

I streamlined OOS/OOT investigations by effectively collaborating with cross-

functional teams (CFTs). By actively soliciting input from QC, Manufacturing,
Instrumentation, and QA, I quickly identified key information and facilitated
agreement on investigation route, root causes and CAPAs. For instance, in an
Product purity related OOS investigation, I successfully mediated a
disagreement between the QC and Manufacturing teams regarding the need
for additional resampling after an Out of Specification (OOS) result was
confirmed through QC retesting. The QC team, confident in their results due
to recently calibrated RP-HPLC systems, maintained that retesting was
unnecessary. However, the Manufacturing team questioned the accuracy of
QC’s findings and faced a logistical challenge—the process solution had
already advanced to the next stage, leaving no sample for further analysis.
To resolve the issue, I proposed a process change: adding a note in the Batch
Manufacturing Record (BMR) to ensure that process solutions remain at the
current stage until QC results are available (approximately 30 minutes).
Additionally, I recommended that two samples always be taken during
sampling to account for situations where the process solution cannot be held.
This proposal was formalized as a Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)
and implemented in the BMR. As a result, this issue never recurred, improving
process efficiency and cross-functional coordination."

Weaknesses: -

1. Limited involvement in extracurricular activities beyond primary interests.

My academic and professional focus in the past led me to prioritize technical

and analytical work over extracurricular engagement. However, I realized the
importance of a well-rounded profile and have since taken proactive steps—
such as participating in industry networking events and —to enhance my
exposure. This has helped me develop leadership skills outside of my core
expertise. I intend to further increase my involvement in the campus clubs and
take active participation in multiple extra-curriculars.

2. Struggle with delegating tasks effectively.

Earlier in my career, I struggled with delegation, believing that handling tasks

myself ensured quality and efficiency. However, as my responsibilities grew, I
realized this approach was unsustainable and led to inefficiencies. To
improve, I started identifying tasks that could be delegated, providing clear
instructions, and trusting my team. A key moment was during my QMS role,
where delegating aspects of issue resolution streamlined processes and
empowered my colleagues. While I continue refining this skill, I now approach
delegation more strategically, and intend to work on it through MBA group
projects and assignments.

3. Fear of public speaking

I used to struggle with public speaking, often feeling anxious during

presentations. To improve, I started volunteering for small speaking
opportunities at work and took part in a business analytics program where I
had to present findings to peers. Over time, I’ve become more comfortable
articulating ideas in group settings, and while I’m still working on refining my
confidence, I now actively seek opportunities to present and communicate
more effectively which I am sure pursuing an MBA will provide abundantly.

Short Term and Long-Term Goals: -

Short Term Goals: - (The 2-year plan)

WHY MBA?
My tryst with the idea of pursuing an MBA began with a pivotal experience during the
“Design of Experiment” training at IIT Delhi, sponsored by my organization. That
experience shifted my perspective, revealing the potential to create meaningful
change beyond the confines of the lab. It became clear that my communication and
comprehension skills could be leveraged in a broader context, allowing me to make
a more substantial impact. Motivated by this realization, I volunteered for a Quality
Management System (QMS) role, which opened doors to cross-functional
interactions across various departments within the company. This role significantly
expanded my network and provided me with invaluable insights into the inner
workings of the organization. As I engaged more with colleagues in core
departments—Supply Chain, Finance, HR, and Marketing—I noticed their significant
influence on the company’s success. They had greater visibility and played pivotal
roles in driving the organization forward—an impact I had yet to experience in my
current role. This realization prompted me to seek broader career prospects and look
beyond my existing role to achieve the level of influence I aspire to.
My passion for biological sciences has been a part of me since my school days
which guided my decision to pursue a career in medicine, which later evolved into a
focus on Biotechnology. I studied for 5 years and worked in this field for around two
years, deeply committed to my choice. However, despite the importance of my work,
I began to feel the limitations of my current role. The scope of my future career
prospects and my professional network were both limited, which made me realize I
needed to cast a wider net if I wanted to make the societal impact I’ve always
envisioned.

An MBA is the key to unlocking this new world of possibilities. I believe it will broaden
my career opportunities, expose me to diverse perspectives, and help me interact
with individuals from various industries and backgrounds. These experiences will
contribute to my holistic growth as both a individual and a professional, shaping me
into the well-rounded leader I aspire to be.

At this point in my life, pursuing an MBA feels like the only natural next step. It aligns
perfectly with my inherent skills, personal goals, and professional aspirations. I know
that an MBA will address my current weaknesses, refine my skill set, and prepare me
for the leadership roles I aim to take on. The rigorous curriculum and immersive
process will challenge me, enhance my strengths, and help me break through the
barriers I’ve set for myself—both professionally and personally.

I see the MBA not just as a degree, but as a transformative experience—one that will
help me evolve into a more capable, confident version of myself. This will empower
me to contribute meaningfully to the industry, lead teams with vision and purpose,
and ultimately make a lasting impact. For me, an MBA is not just the next step in my
career; it’s a pivotal turning point that will shape the trajectory of my future.

How do you plan to contribute to our MBA community?

I bring a unique blend of analytical thinking, problem-solving, and cross-functional
collaboration to the MBA community. With experience in OpEx and QMS, I offer
insights into the biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries, adding depth to
classroom discussions and peer learning.
My ability to simplify complex scientific concepts can benefit those interested in
healthcare, biotech, or pharma consulting, fostering an interdisciplinary learning
environment. Additionally, my experience working in diverse teams and leading
discussions on root cause identification and CAPA equips me to excel in high-
pressure, deadline-driven projects—an asset in group work, leadership roles, and
networking initiatives.
Why did you choose our business school?
I chose IMT Ghaziabad for its strong reputation in MBA education and its impressive
track record of placements in varied sectors. The institute’s impeccable alumni
network, especially in healthcare and diagnostics, reassured me that science and
biology maintain strong visibility here. Additionally, IMT’s diverse student community
and vibrant club culture provide the ideal environment for holistic growth and a well-
rounded business perspective.

How do you handle stress and pressure?

I handle stress by planning the steps to achieve it precisely, staying organized,
breaking tasks into smaller steps, and focusing on what’s most important. Having
worked as a Quality Management Systems executive, quick-decision making,
problem solving and spontaneity become your best bet, so I’ve learned to stay calm
and think clearly under pressure.

Taking short breaks, staying mindful, and managing my time well helps me keep my
energy up. I also believe in teamwork—sometimes just talking things through with
others makes a big difference. At the end of the day, I see pressure as a challenge
that pushes me to do better rather than something to stress over.

How would you describe your personal brand?

I’d say my personal brand is all about being solution-driven, and adaptable while
staying collaborative and open to learning. I love breaking down complex problems,
finding practical solutions, and making things easier for everyone through clear
communication.

I’m detail-oriented but always keep the bigger picture in mind, which helps me
navigate challenges and work well across teams. I thrive under pressure, enjoy
problem-solving, and always look for ways to improve and add value. At the end of
the day, I see myself as someone who’s approachable, curious, accountable, and
always growing.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Besides work and career goals, I genuinely enjoy reading, writing, and baking.
Reading gives me a chance to explore different perspectives and ideas, while writing
allows me to express my thoughts creatively—I even hope to publish a book
someday. Baking is my way of unwinding; there’s something really satisfying about
creating something from scratch and sharing it with others.

Lately, I’ve been fascinated by sustainable living, organic nutrition, and healthy
eating. It’s intriguing how modern diets have shifted from ancient, wholesome food
habits to fast, processed options that prioritize convenience over real nourishment—
often at the expense of health and sustainability. Traditional diets were deeply rooted
in seasonality, balance, and whole ingredients, yet we’ve largely moved away from
these principles in favor of efficiency over well-being.

How does your background prepare you for an MBA?

My transition from OpEx to QMS helped me lead cross-functional discussions and
analyse issues to improve process efficiency. This improved my interpersonal skills,
problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure—all
important for business challenges. My background combines technical skills,
teamwork, and leadership, giving me the flexibility to choose any MBA specialization.
With a unique profile, I can explore areas like marketing, strategy, operations, or
consulting, using my adaptability and analytical skills. Transitioning from a biotech-
heavy background to a management-focused career, I aim to connect technical
innovation with business strategy, preparing for leadership roles after the MBA.
