Instructions:
(i) Answer all the questions in Section – A. Answer any six questions in Section – B
and answer any two questions in Section – C.
(ii) In Section – A, questions from Sr. Nos. 1 to 10 are of Very Short Answer Type.
Each question carries two marks. Answer all questions at one place in the same
order.
(iii) In Section – B, questions from Sr. Nos. 11 to 18 are of Short Answer Type. Each
question carries four marks.
(iv) In Section – C, questions from Sr. Nos. 19 to 21 are of Long Answer Type. Each
question carries eight marks.

Section – A
Answer all the following questions. 10×2=20 Marks
1. A concave mirror of focal length 10 cm is placed at a distance 35 cm from a wall.
How far from the wall should an object be placed so that its real image is formed
on the wall ?
2. How do you convert a moving coil galvanometer into an ammeter?
3 Magnetic lines form continuous closed loops. Why?
4 Define Magnetic declination.
5 What is transformer ratio ?
6. If the wavelength of electromagnetic radiation is doubled, what happens to the
energy of photon ?
7. Write down Einstein’s photoelectric equation.
8. State Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle.
9. What is a p-type semiconductor ? What are the majority charge carriers in it ?
10. Define Modulation. Why is it necessary? Mention the basic methods of
modulation.
Section – B
Answer to any six of the following questions. 6×4=24 Marks
11. Define critical angle. Explain total internal reflection using a neat diagram.
12. How do you determine the resolving power of your eye ?
13. State and explain Coloumb’s inverse square law in electricity.

14. Derive an expression for the electric potential due to a point charge.
15. State and explain Ampere’s law.
16. Describe the ways in which Eddy currents are used to advantage.
17. Explain the different types of spectral series.
18. Define NAND and NOR gates. Give their truth tables.
Section – C
Answer to any two of the following questions. 2×8=16 Marks
19. Explain the formation of stationary waves in stretched strings and hence deduce the
laws of transverse waves in stretched strings.
20. (a) State Kirchhoff s laws for an electrical network. Using these laws deduce the
condition for balance in a Wheatstone bridge.
(b) Two resistors of resistances 10 Ω and 15 Ω are connected in parallel. Find the
effective resistance of their combination.
21. What is radioactivity ? State the law of radioactive decay. Show that radioactive
decay is exponential in nature.
