The Model 560XL Maintenance Manual provides troubleshooting guidelines for the Environmental Control System (ECS), including a list of fault codes and their corresponding conditions. Specific recommendations for addressing fault codes E5, E6, and E9 are included, along with references to diagrams for further troubleshooting. The manual emphasizes the importance of using current data for maintenance and retaining printed data for historical reference only.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM (ECS) - TROUBLESHOOTING
1. General A. This section gives the environmental control system troubleshooting. (1) The temperature controller performs a diagnostic every time power is applied to the controller and will show a fault code if there is an error. The table below gives a complete list of the different fault codes and the related condition. Fault Code Fault Condition 888 Test of display elements is being performed. E0 Built In Test is enabled and a test of the related system is being performed. E1 Zone Temperature Sensor resistance is too low. E2 Zone Temperature Sensor resistance is too high. E3 Duct Temperature Sensor resistance is too low. E4 Duct Temperature Sensor resistance is too high. E5 Temperature Control Valve closing current is too low. E6 Temperature Control Valve opening current is too low. E7 Temperature Control Valve closing current is too high. E8 Temperature Control Valve opening current is too high. E9 Idle current (Temperature Control Valve stationary) is too high. (1) Below are some recommendations for troubleshooting when specific codes are shown: (a) For fault codes E5 and E6, check for loose connections at electrical connectors, or pins that are pushed back in their sockets. (b) Fault code E9 is most likely caused by an idle current (the temperature control valve is not moving in either direction) of more than 175 mA. Check for electrical shorts between the controller and the cockpit temperature control valve. Use a megohmmeter. If there are no shorts in the electrical wire, the controller needs to be replaced. B. If the cabin and cockpit temperatures are too hot and cannot be controlled in manual mode, do the ECU trouble-shooting. 2. Troubleshooting A. For a troubleshooting block diagram, refer to Figure 101 for the Cabin Temperature Control and Figure 104 for the ECU. Zone (area) temperature sensor varying resistance values are displayed in chart form in Figure 102. Duct sensor resistance varying values are displayed in Figure 103.
