1. Surface area of a cuboid = 2( lb + bh + hl );


2. Area of 4 walls = 2h( I + b ) = perimeter of base x ht.
3. Surface area of a cube = 6a2 ; C.S.A of a cube = 4a2
4. Curved surface area of a cylinder = 2πrh
5. Total surface area of a cylinder = 2πr( r + h )
6. Curved surface area of a cone = πrl
7. Total surface area of a right circular cone =πrl +πr2 , i.e., πr ( l + r )
8. Surface area of a sphere = 4πr2
9. Curved surface area of a hemisphere =2πr2
10. Total surface area of a hemisphere =3πr2
11. Volume of a cuboid = lbh
12. Volume of a cube = a3
13. Volume of a cylinder = πr2h
14. Volume of a cone= ⅓πr2h
15. Volume of a sphere = 4/3πr3
16. Volume of a hemisphere = 2/3πr3

Q1. If the volume of a cube is 216 cm3 then its edge is:
( a ) 36 cm ( b ) 6 cm ( c ) 12 cm ( d ) 3 cm

Q2. Slant height of a cone is 34 cm and base diameter is 32 cm, then height of the cone is :

( a ) 33 cm ( b ) 25 cm ( c ) 30 cm ( d ) 27 cm

Q3. A rectangular pit of dimensions 20 m x 15 m x 10 m is dug and the earth taken out has to
be disposed off in truck which can carry a load of 300 m3 of earth. The number of rounds
truck has to make to dispose the earth are :

Q 4. Determine the volume of a conical tin having radius of the base as 30 cm, and its slant
height as 50 cm. ( π = 3.14 )

Q 5. Curved surface area of a cylinder is 308 cm ² and its height is 14 cm . Find the radius of
the base.

Q6. An ice-cream cone has diameter of 4 cm. If its height is 10 cm, find its volume.
Q7. Circumference of the base of a right circular cone is 88 cm. If its height is 10 cm then,
find its volume.

Q8. Four cubes each of side 5 cm are joined end to end. Find the surface area of the
resultant cuboid.

Q9. A plastic box 1.5 m long, 1.25 m wide and 65 cm deep is to be made. It is to be open at
the top. Ignoring the thickness of the plastic sheet , determine:

( a ) The area of the sheet required for making the box.

( b ) The cost of the sheet, if the sheet cost Rs. 20 per m2.

Q1. The volume of two sphere are in the ratio 64 : 27. Find the ratio of their radii.

Q2. A right triangle with its side 5 cm, 12 cm and 13 cm is revolved about the side 12 cm.
Find the volume of the solid formed.

Q 3. 50 circular plates, each of radius 7 cm and thickness ½ cm, are placed one above the
other to form a solid right cylinder. Find the total surface area and the volume of the
cylinder so formed.

Q4. The total surface area of a solid right circular cylinder is 231 cm2. If the curved surface
area is 2/3rd of the total surface area, determine the radius of its base and height.

Q 5. How many square meters of canvas is required for a conical tent whose height is 3.5 m
and the radius of the base is 12 m?

Q 6. It costs Rs. 2200 to paint the inner curved surface of a cylindrical vessel 10 m deep. If
the cost of painting is at the rate of Rs. 20 per sq. m., find the radius of the base.

Q 7. A lead pencil consists of a cylinder of wood with solid cylinder of graphite filled into it.
The diameter of the pencil is 7 mm, the diameter of graphite is 1 mm and the length of the
pencil is 10 cm. Calculate the weight of the whole pencil if the specific gravity of wood is 0.7
g/cm3 and that of graphite is 2.1 g/cm3.

Q 8. If the heights of two cones are in the ratio of 1 : 3 and their diameters are in the ratio
3 : 5, find the ratio of their volumes.

Q 9. If the edge of the cube is increased by 25 %, then find the percent increase in its
surface area.
