Online School
Elayna lives in a small village which is over 400 kilometres from the nearest school
and she attends online school every day.
Elayna attends online class in real time on the computer. During these online
classes, Elayna’s teacher instructs students in the subjects and asks questions
about the lesson. Elayna enjoys these lessons because they’re interesting. She
attends her classes in the morning and completes her other lessons and homework
in the afternoon.
Every morning, Elayna eats breakfast with her brothers and spends time playing
with her dogs before starting school. She then logs into the Online School to check
her timetable for the day. She reads her school e-mails and prepares for her
morning classes, which are all, live online lessons.
Just like any other student, Elayna needs breaks. She usually goes outside to get
some fresh air and then plays with her dogs before her afternoon lessons.
In the afternoon, Elayna has more lessons but she does them on her own with the
help of her Learning Coach. Her mom, who is her Learning Coach, helps plan her
afternoon and checks that she has finished all her lessons and homework. Then,
her mom sends an email to the school to say that Elayna has finished all her school
work for the day.
One of Elayna’s passions is acting. She has theatre class every Thursday. Her
online school programme gives her the freedom to do other things like sports, or
spend time with family and friends.
Elayna usually spends her evenings with her family outdoors. When they are not
outdoors, the family likes to play games or watch a movie. Elayna’s parents watch
her progress and, because she gets good results in all her tests, they are sure
they’ve made the best choice for her education.
