f.0 PURPOSE

This procedure applied to ihe hydrostatic test of the complete boiler and
pressure retaining paris in accordance with the requirements
of the ASME
Ccde upoil completion of fabricaiion.

The procedure is applicable for shop & field assenibly.

2.S RESPOi{SIB!L!TY

2.1. The Produciion Super, risor is responsible for ensuring that Hydrostatic

test is conducted in accordance with relevant job instructions which have
been reviewed and accepted by the Al.

2.2. The personnel authorized by the Production Supervisor shall ensure that
the equipment to be used are suitable calibrated and that range is suitable
for use in conjunction rvith the Hydrostatic Test to be peiformed. ec
lnspector will be responsible for ensuring that calibration is undertaken.
Records will be n'raintained as detailed in balibration procedure.

2.3.
$e AC lnspector shall issue completed "Hydrostatic Test Instruction,,
Sheeis io Production Supervisor.
The instruction will include, as a minimum:

(ai Projeci Number and ldentification of the components or assembly

to
be tesied.
(b) Pressure Gauge/Recorder Range
(c) Test Media
(i (d Test Pssition, Test pressure & Holding Time

2.4. The QC lnspector shall be responsible for compilation of reports

and
records for iimely submission to the AI for nis review and
client's
Representative for approval and signature.

3.0 FIYDROSTATIC TEST PROCEDURE

a,t
J. t. A Hydrostatic test shall be conducied on all pressure paris after:

(a) All fabrication has been completed, except for operation which could
nat be perforrned prior to the test, such as weld end preparation,
cosmetic grinding on the base material vrhich does noi atiach the
required thickness

(b) All examination have been performed, except those required after the
test.

3'2' Pressure parts shall be subjected to a Hydr"ostatic Tesi pressure which

at
every point is; as shown on the drawing by the design engineers. The
Design Engineer rvill also ideniify ihe mlximi:m test p-r**=uiu based on
ende requirements.

For Seciion I : not less ihan 1.S times ihe MAWp

The hydroiest shail use waier at no less ihan ambient temperature, bui in
no case, less than 70"F (21"C). The pressure shall be under proper
at all times so that ihe required maximum test pressure iscontrol never
exceeded. Clase visual inspection for leakage is noi required during this
stage.

3'3' The maximunr Chlorine content of the water used for t-tydrosiatic Test of
Austenite Stainless $teel Construction is S0 ppm.

3'4. Hydrostatic test inspection cf all joints and conneetions shall be made at a
pressure not less than two third of the test pfessure.
The visual Examination of joints and conneciions for leaks at hruo third
of
the required hydrostatic tesi pressure may be waived provided:

(a) A suitable gas taak test is applied.

(b) Sub.stitution of the gas leak test is by agreement reached with
Authorized lnspector.
(c) All Welded struciures which will be hidden by assembly be given a
visual examination by QC lnspector and Al for workmanship
assembly lrior io
(d) The vesser does not contain a "rethar" substance.

3'5' Vent shall be provided at all high points of the boiter and pressure
retaining paris in ihe pasition in which it is to be tested prrg" possible
air
pockeis whire ihe pressure enverope is being firted.

3'6' Before applying pressurer ihe equipment being tested shall be

examined
to see that ii is tight, clean, free-from any debris, scale, grease, etc.
and
that all low pressure filting lines and other appurtenanc*J that should
not
be subjected to the iest pressure have bee dlsconnected
or blanked. The
test should not begin until the temperature of ihe test medium and
ihe
metal tenrperature are approximately the same.

3'7 ' Pressure gauge io be used in ihe above iesiing shail be checked
against
a Master Gauge & Death Weight Tester.
For testing at field site, the gauges v,rill be rechecked upon
after completion test. - arrival at shop
'l

One gauge should be located at the high point and if not readily
visible to
the operator, another gauge should be used that is readily visible to
the
operator.

3.8. Hydrotest result shail be accepted only if there is no teakage found at

permanent and iemparary connection during inspection at the holding
pressure tesi. lf leakage is found at the loeation previously mentioned, the
pressure should be reduced to atmospheric pressure, drain the boiler, and
repair the leak. The boiler shall be re-iest after the repair work is finished.
