Materials to be use:
i. Ready mix concrete;
ii. Mild Steel Formwork (RC Tank Wall extension only) and timber formwork for others;
iii. Reinforcement bars;

3.4 Site Planning

i. All plant and equipment must be checked at least one day earlier to avoid unnecessary
breakdown which can disrupt the whole process;

ii. Formworks, reinforcement, concrete cover, spacing, positions and cleanliness must be
checked before concreting carried out;

iii. Relevant inspection check list will be use;

iv. Design mix must be approved by the client and consultant and subsequent cube test to be
carried out. The 28 days test results must satisfy the design mix criteria;
v. Plan the location of constructions joints;
vi. Before commencement of concreting works, all the survey and pegging of the required
works area are to be marked;
vii. 2 concrete vibrators will be provided, 1 will be use during concrete pouring meanwhile
another 1 will be spare in case of break down;
viii. Ensure access to the area of concreting is safe. Excavation area required to be properly
barricaded to prevent fall. Contractor shall prepare required access for workers and
machineries into and around the works area;
ix. Pumping arrangement shall be adequate to ensure no delays in construction;
x. Concreting work is not allowed, if the concrete is ready for more than two (2) hours from
the start of mixing time;

3.5 Work Methodology

The erection of concreting work:
A. For Structure with Piling, Pile Cut Off
i. The elevation of pile cut off levels shall follow the reference drawings, piling plan and
foundation drawing spec;
ii. A level instrument shall be used for measurement of pile cut-off (PCO) elevation. Pile
head and starter bar length must follow according to IFC drawing;
3

iii. For a neat pile head finishing, a concrete cutter shall be used to cut the pile. Any loose
concrete to be removed;
iv. The cut off pile shall be disposed to legal disposal area;
v. If cut off level at pile joint, shall refer to consultant for remedial works;
vi. To take as built for pile cut off position, if deviation more than 75mm shall refer to
consultant;
vii. During pile cutting, the top part of pile (longer than 1m) must hold by excavator using
chain/web sling to avoid any danger to worker;

B. Lean Concrete
i. The dimension of exaction and condition of compaction bottom surface shall check and
inspect prior to do lean concreting work
ii. Ready-mix concrete will be poured to required thickness of the lean concrete
iii. A manual tool shall be used to compact and level the concrete

C. Installation of Reinforcement Bar

i. Prior for rebar installation, incoming material of rebar shall be inspected to
correctness of size, dimension, cleanliness and fulfilled all the requirement.
ii. Rebar must be tie firmly using steel wire.
iii. To achieve minimum concrete cover as per drawing, sufficient concrete spacer to be
use. Concrete spacer must be equivalent grade with concrete material.

D. Pouring and Curing Concrete

i. Alignment and strength of formwork shall be inspected prior to concreting works etc.
“the installation of bracing supports (Timber post/Steel Post) for the MS formworks @
every 1.0m c/c for each MS formwork to prevent any concrete leakage” during the
concreting works.
ii. Arrangement of reinforcement-bar shall be inspected;
iii. Formwork and re-bar shall be clean up where all formwork and reinforcement
contained inside shall be clean and free from muddy water immediately before placing
of the concrete. Concrete level and concrete cover again to be inspect;
iv. Steel formwork shall be spray by suitable amount of water to avoid heat on formwork
surface during concrete pouring;
v. Water stops approve materials shall be install at adequate position for every concrete

joint (at 1.2m height or 2.4m height subject to MS steel formwork installation) prior to
concreting works (RC Tank Wall extension).
vi. Check and ensure that ready-mix concrete is same grade as specified concrete prior to
pouring;
vii. Perform slump test for truck mixer. For every delivery, concrete slump more than
design require shall be rejected;
viii. A compressive strength test for every 20m3 delivery batch shall be taken as sample
(cube), each set with 6 sample of cubes, 3 for 7th days cube test and 3 for 28th days cube
test;
ix. The concrete shall be compacted using sufficient vibrators;
x. Immediately after compaction and 7 days thereafter the concrete shall be protected
against weather, including rain and from drying out;
