34. IFA PREPARATION TO OVERCOME ALL ENEMIES

Ingredients

e Edun ara, Sango thunder stone

e ori oka, head of a cobra
e ẹ̀súrú pupa, dioscorea dumetorum (kunth) pax, dioscoreaceae
e isu emina, discorea bulbifera J., dioscoreaceae
e agbo kan, one giant ram
e akuko kan, one giant rooster

Preparation

Grind ingredient items 1 to 4 together and then dry them in the sun.
When properly dry, grind them into fine powder. Use the powder
to imprint Iret8 Osé on the right, Ejì Ogbé in the middle, and
Obara Iká on the left of a big Ifá tray or white flat plate. The
incantation below will then be recited into it. We will now pour the
powder inside as many bottle-shaped calabashes (sééré) as can
contain the Ifa preparation. We will then slaughter the ram and the
rooster and pour their blood on the outside of each sééré, making
sure that the blood does not touch the powder inside the sééré.
Some of the hair and the feathers will then be stuck onto the blood
around the outside of each sééré. The ram and rooster will then be
cooked and part of them will be used to feed Sang6 along with two
bitter kolas. The sééré should be removed the next day.

" This Ifa preparation can only be used at night and with cold
porridge. Jt must never be used more than two times in a year. It is
too powerful to be used more frequently than that.
