The reality of human suffering aims to help you develop your sense of hope as
you realize God’s plan for human persons. In the BOOK of JOB, chapter 38-40, Job, a
blameless and upright being suffered and experienced all kinds of physical and moral
sufferings.
INTERACTION
CHUNK 1: ON RESPONSIBILITY (Creation Story)
CHUNK 2: ON LOVE
Formative Question: What is love? What is our basis of a person who truly loves?
Love is the richest source of the meaning of suffering. Being a part of society
and citizen of the Philippines you share the mission of Christ as His follower. You are a
member of the Church, aware that you are living in a world that has not yet attained the
fullness of peace and justice. You can see many sufferings around. You suffer in many
different ways.
CHUNK 3: ON SUFFERING
Physical suffering is present when “the body is hurting” in some way, whereas
spiritual suffering is pain of the soul. Suffering does not come from God, but from the
world. God allows suffering but He does not will it. Man suffers on account of evil, which
is a certain lack, limitation, or distortion of good.
Man suffers because of a good in which he does not share.
