Semantics deals with word meaning & sentence meaning Pragmatics deals with invisible meaning or intended meaning by language users
Lexemes & words Propositions, sentences, utterances Linguistic context (co-text to infer meanings of deictic expressions) Words & things/objects Sentences have propositions (truth-values) Physical or social context to infer meaning of implicature and speech acts etc. Words & concepts/ideas Abstract sentences are realized via utterances Speakers convey meaning via implicature; listeners recognize meaning via inference Words & sense Utterances belong to the domain of pragmatics Speakers have presuppositions; sentences have entailments.
