The Apprentice

You’re the Apprentice to a Powerful Magician. Your mentor hold great sway over the
community, and is a massively powerful authority over the lands and people. And you? Well,
you’ll grab their newspaper when they ask you to. And Sweep their floors, and everything
else they tell you to do. Don’t wish to be a disappointment, do you?

Your Backstory
You’re only where you are because of your mentor, and everyone knows it. Give everyone a
string on you

You’re smarter than they are, all of them cannot begin to comprehend how far above them
you are! Gain a String on *everyone*, except your mentor.

Darkest Self
You’ve taken too much shit from everyone, you don’t deserve to be ridiculed and looked
down upon. You’re too powerful to put up with their garbage any longer. You sling at anyone
who slights you. All of your spells have unexpected side effects, and are more effective than
you are comfortable with. To escape your Darkest Self, you must be put in your place, or
have an existential moment where you realize you went too far.

Sex Move
When you have sex with someone, lose all of your Mana, and gain a number of Strings on
whoever you slept with equal to half the Mana lost. You do not gain Mana at the end of this
Session, nor at the start of the Next.

Apprentice Moves
You start with Arcanist’s Mana, and Spell-Slinging:

- Arcanist’s Mana
You gain power from Mana, A resource that shows your devotion to your study, and nothing
else, gain Two Mana at the Start and End of every Session, and may only hold a Max of 10.
You may spend strings as if they were Mana on the Person being Affected by your Spells.

- Spell-Slinging
You can cast Spells. Choose two that you know. To sling them, expend the required Mana. If
you have time for a ritual, the spell slings as normal. When you sling on the spot, look at the
target you wish to afflict. Then roll with Dark. On a 10 up, the Spell works, and can easily be
reversed. On a 7-9, it works but choose one:
- The slinging does you 1 Harm;
- The Spell has weird side effects
- Trigger your Darkest Self
- Do You Know Who My Mentor Is?
You can bring up your mentor when you Shut Someone Down, add +3 to the roll, but
bragging about your connections will one day come back to haunt you. The MC can give any
character a string on you.

- Wisdom Of The Arcane


When your on the fly Spell-Slinging meets the community’s moral and intellectual standards,
add 1 to your Spell Casting roll.

Spells
Hexes can be taken in places of Spells, but you take them one by one, not all at once, the
same can be done for Witches.

- Tracking of Tiberius
For One Mana, You can track the target of this spell for the next 24 hours, no matter where
they are.

- Eodrin’s Elemental Bolt


This spell has two uses:
- For One Mana, You launch an elemental bolt at any target you choose, this effect does no
Harm, but can add +1 Forward to any relevant rolls you make afterwards.
- For Two Mana, You can roll to Lash Out Physically, this effect Deals 3 Harm to the target,
but you *have* to take one of the negative effects of Spell-Slinging.

- Pollonius’ Polymorph
For Four Mana, Turn the target into an animal, no larger than a Dog.

- Dorim’s Denial
This spell has two uses:
- For One Mana, You Counter *any Hex or Spell*
- For Two Mana, You can choose to make someone’s 10+ Turn Someone On, or Shut
Someone Down roll, into a 7-9 roll, or turn their 7-9 roll into a failure.

- Silas’ Psionic Hand


For One Mana, you gain a Psionic, invisible hand, and may use it from a distance to cause
havoc. The Hand can lift no more than 15lbs.

- Add +1 to one of your stats.
- Take another Apprentice move.
- Take all the remaining Spells.
- Create a new Spell.
- Take a move from any Skin.
- Take a move from any Skin.
- You belong to a Study Group.
