C. Lesson Proper Based on the objects that you have Solid figures are three-dimension objects
seen, what do you think is a solid figure?
Very good.
So, what is a cube? A cube is a solid figure that has six faces
which are all squares with same size,
eight vertices and twelve edges.
Give me an example of cube? Dice, ice cubes, rubik’s cubes and sugar
cube
2. PRISM
solid figure that has two congruent
parallel faces and any number of sides.
Faces - 5
Vertices - 6
Edges – 9
Faces - 6
Vertices - 8
Edges – 12
Faces - 7
Vertices - 10
Edges - 15
Pyramid
Ok very good !
Pyramid is another example of solid
figure.
Why? Does it have faces? Edges and
vertices?
3. PYRAMID
One base and at least three triangular
faces. Named by the shape of its base.
Rectangular pyramid
has a rectangle-shaped base.
Square pyramid
has a square -shaped base
Triangular pyramid
has a triangle-shaped base
Next is cylinder
has two circular faces
but also no edges or vertices.
4. CONE
as one face, but no edge or vertices.
5. SPHERE
Another solid figure with curved surface
only is Sphere
Does it have vertices?faces? edges?
Sphere is a solid round figure. It has no
Can you give other examples of spheres? sides.
What are the properties of solid figures? Solid figure are three-dimension figures
that have height,width and depth.
D. Generalization What are the types of solid figures? The properties os a solid figures are
faces, vertex(vertices) base and edges.
V. Evaluation
1. Determine the number of faces, vertices, and edges of the following solid figures.
Cube 6 8 12
Rectangular prism
6 8 12
Pyramid
5 5 8
Sphere
1 0 0
Cone
1 1 0
2. Group Activity
Additional Activity for Application
Composition: 10 groups
Instruction: Each group will be given the pattern to assemble in 5minutes then after 5minutes they will share it to the
class by naming the solid figure. Identify the faces, vertices, and sides. They will also share to the class
where they can use the following solid figures.
VI. Assignment
B.Decide whether the shape is a prism or not. If so, count the number of faces.
Value integrated:
“We are all different but we deserve to fair to other”
