Introduction to MICROMINE will teach you how to use the basics of your MICROMINE
software. The one day course is for new and returning users, or managers that need a basic
level of understanding to interact with their technical staff.
The course introduces MICROMINE’s key features by working through a familiar scenario:
A newly acquired exploration project requires the software user to import and assess the
data in order to make recommendations on future drilling.
Key features that will be introduced include data entry and importing, visual integration of
different 2D and 3D data using the Vizex (Visual Explorer) interface, generating drillhole
sections and producing printed output.
What will Upon completion of the course, you will know how to:
I learn? • Use the MICROMINE user interface and its various tools
• Manage MICROMINE projects
• Create and manipulate MICROMINE files
• Validate drillhole and general purpose data
• Understand and use filters to subset the data of interest
• Create and plot a multi-layered view using Vizex
• Create and plot a drillhole cross section
Pre- requisites Experience with the Windows operating system, including user interface interaction (double-click,
right-click, use of Windows, icons and menus) and file management (creating files and directories,
using Windows Explorer). Attendees MUST bring their own laptops.
Exploration. This course teaches you how to use the MICROMINE tools that are specific to
exploration work.
What will Upon completion of the course, you will know how to:
I learn? • Get more from your drillhole data
• Calculate drilling statistics and extract summarised downhole data
• Composite drillhole data and perform other drillhole calculations
• Plan drillholes with a fixed collar, a known target or both
• Create drillhole logs
• Work with oriented drillhole structural data
• Construct a digital terrain model from drillhole or surface data
• Calculate simple 2D grade-tonnage values
• Import data from ODBC, SIF, and CAD/GIS sources
• Use the advanced Vizex Pie Chart and Contour objects
• Validate data using lookup tables and colour sets
• Create advanced filters
• Construct a sectional geological interpretation of a surface or solid
• Create interpolated grids and contours
• Automate a task by writing a macro
Who is it • Micromine users who understand the basics of MICROMINE and are involved in the
suitable for? exploration process.
