Proposal

The School Small Drainage System aims to efficiently collect and direct stormwater runoff to prevent flooding and minimize water damage to school infrastructure. The project includes site assessment, expert collaboration for design, material procurement, and system testing, with a total estimated budget of PHP 29,500. Benefits include reduced flooding, improved safety, and enhanced environmental quality around the school, with a project timeline of approximately 3-4 months for completion.

School Small Drainage System

Objectives
The primary objectives of the School Small Drainage System are collects and directs
stormwater runoff efficiently, preventing flooding around school buildings and walkways.
Minimize water damage to the school’s infrastructure including classrooms, sports fields, and
pathways. Implement sustainable drainage solutions that reduce erosion and environmental
impact. A system that requires minimal maintenance for continued efficiency and
effectiveness.

Methodology
We will implement a Drainage System with assess the school's site for checking the state of
the existing drainage and areas vulnerable to flooding. Also collaborates with experts to
design the appropriate drainage system according to local regulations. Purchasing the
materials needed in construction that listed by the professionals that will conduct the
installation. The system is tested with respect to the proper flow path for water and freedom
from blockages. The system is inspected, and a maintenance manual is handed over to the
school for its continued proper functioning.

Rationale
Currently, our school experienced unexpected flooding due to the constant rain. A well-
planned drainage system will protect the school from future water damages as well as
improve the overall school environment by ensuring that rainwater is effectively channeled
out from buildings and common areas. By implementing this system, the school will save
time in the maintenance costs of damages from water, and more importantly save health
hazards caused by wet spots, such as mold, mildew and will also give students more learning
comfort.

Budget
The budget estimates for the school small drainage system are provided below:

MATERIALS AMOUNT
PVC Pipes (50 meters) PHP 4,400
Concrete for catch basins and manholes PHP 5,500
Catch basins, filters, and manholes PHP 3,300
Gravel, sand, and backfill materials PHP 3,300
Miscellaneous materials (fittings, seals, connectors) PHP 3,300
TOTAL PHP 19,800

Construction (Labor and Equipment) AMOUNT

Labor for excavation and pipe installation PHP 2,000
Labor for installing catch basins and manholes PHP 2,000
Equipment rental (e.g., small excavator) PHP 3,500
Miscellaneous costs (transport, tools) PHP 2,200
TOTAL PHP 9,700

Note: this budget is not the same across the board and can differ according to local market
conditions and specific projects.
Benefits
This is the proposed drainage system to provide great benefits to the school. It would
significantly reduce incidences of flooding around the school, save property, and keep
buildings safe to access. As there will be less pooling of water on hallways and open areas,
the risk of accidents and falling people diminishes. Protects the buildings and infrastructure
from Water damage resulting in greater life spans of the school assets. It will have a water
control during rainy season and improvement of the adjacent area water quality by pollutant
reduction.

Schedule
The project duration is estimated to:

ALLOTED TIME PERIOD

Planning and Budgeting 1 week
Procurement of Materials 3 weeks
Construction of Drainage System 2-3 months
Testing & Quality Control 2 weeks
Final Inspection & Handover 1 week
