Why Roblox sucks
Why Roblox sucks
There are many games that people love and suggest to others, and others that are
not well thought of. One of these games is Roblox. Roblox is a free to play
community made game site, where anyone can make games and publish them for
free, and people can play them from around the world. This might sound good, but if
you look behind the shining home page, you will see all that is wrong with the site.
By the time you finish reading this, I hope you will have seen the problems with
Roblox.
Paying to win, or purchasing power-ups with real money, make it unfair towards the
other players, or an overpowered item in a building/factory game. There are also
items or loot that require hours of your life grinding in the game, yet these items
can all be bought using Robux. In most games now you cannot do most things in a
normal game that costs money or go to a place that gives better items than
anywhere else or sinking hours of your life into said game. The reason this is more
of a problem in Roblox then other games with Micro-Transactions is that. There are
not guidelines for using/creating game passes, and there is no price limit to them.
There could be game passes that are everywhere and are cheap, but make you
overpowered, and one person can just buy 80 Robux then become overpowered,
and no one else can possible do anything against them. Here is an example of some
game passes that are common around Roblox; Hey player, would you like to sprint
to get away from an enemy, you need to pay us eighty Robux. Do you want to
revive yourself because you died from a bad game mechanic? Purchase revive for
two hundred Robux. In my own experience, I have encountered this many times,
where I would be in a PvP game and would see a player on the leader board who
has only played for 1 hour, and already have 1000s of kills, and once I see this
person in the arena, they have an insta kill weapon with no cooldown, so they can
just erase people from the map because they bought the eight hundred Robux
game pass for the weapon.
Misleading branding or fake advertising is extra common in Roblox. A random game
creator will make a low budget copy of said game, then they will use the same
name, title photo, or even both. After that players will see said game in there for
you page, and think “oh I love this game, I’m going to play it” but when they click
on the game, it will have sub-optimal music, awful gameplay, and nothing good
about it. For example, Blade Ball, I will find a copy that might say Blade ball instead
of Blade Ball, a very slight difference, but one that the Roblox game name filter will
not catch. There are also games that claim they will give you free Robux or “UGC”
or clothing, but when a player clicks on the game, it has bad music, an impossible
parkour course, and a secret code to put in a box if you beat the parkour course that
will supposedly house the Robux, and if you try to leave, the game might plays a
loud sound, jump scare you, or sometimes, even force you to rejoin via a JavaScript
command.
Scamming, , or cheating someone out of money, this is a bigger issue than other
games that people can interact with other people because, Roblox didn’t put in any
rails against it except for the chat “text blocking feature” where if your message has
anything to do with other brands, links or many other criteria, Roblox will keep you
from saying that in game. Game creators also do not put in trading future safety
rails, so if someone wants to give you a “good” item, and it turns out to be trash,
the game does not do anything about it. The main reason Roblox doesn’t put in
more barriers is that Roblox is free, and they don’t really have a reason to make it
as good as a game you would purchase with real money. The scamming can be “on-
platform” or “off-platform.” There are many cases of this happening in almost any
game with a trading feature. People will ask for a trade, then give you a good
seeming item in exchange for your best item, and their item turns out to be plain
trash. This is especially a problem in Roblox because, games can have cool art and
cool names for items, but you cannot really see how good said item is, without it in
your inventory, and it often turns out that the item sucks, nut you could not tell
because of bad game mechanics. There are also games that people can gift you
things, or send special messages, and someone might say that you won something
in game, and you can get something, but they require your password to Roblox, or
something, and you end up getting hacked. This can also happen wherever you get
your videos from. There will be a link or site that appears if you pause in the correct
time, which claims free Robux, and requires you to put in your G-mail, phone
number, Etc. You will end up get hacked by some random Chinese scammers, and
unfriend all your friends, buy Robux under your name, delete your account (not that
common) ,or something like that. The best way not to get hacked or defrauded
would be to keep your passwords to yourself, only trade with people you trust, do
not give out information that could be used against you.
Exploiting, or where you use bugs or glitches in games to get infinite wealth or
power. There is also a new problem with “Scripting” which is a code you run in a 3 rd
party system, and then you can just get infinite stuff, this is also very hard to block,
because Roblox would have to find and then patch the bug, and then find out any
other cracks in the code that the 3rd party system could use to exploit. As in the
previous paragraph, Roblox has this problem especially because it is a free game,
where the creators do not have to spend as much time as a paid game, because of
this, there are more cracks that people can exploit, or hack. There are also people
who will exploit games, and they will just get infinite money in said game, or
anything that just ruins the game, and people can “script” in an overpowered
weapon in a fighting game, and that makes the one person overpowered. People
also don’t care if they get banned, because they can just make a new account for
free, and Roblox doesn’t want to IP ban people because that’s the worst of the worst
bans someone could do, because people can’t just make a new account, because
there entire digital computer address is blocked, and the only way around that is a
paid “vpn” that lets you change your digital computer address.
In conclusion, whilst there are more reasons than the four I went over, the main
reasons why Roblox is bad are, Paying to win, for letting people have unfair
disadvantages for money, Misleading branding, for letting people create rip-offs
using the same name or photo as an original game, Scamming, for letting people
post stuff that gets you hacked, and Scripting, for letting people just strait up hack
in a game. Now, after reading my essay, I hope you understand the reasons behind
why I think Roblox is bad, and what exactly is bad about it. Now go out and share
this with other people who are thinking of getting Roblox.
