REVISION-04
1.Calculate the amount of charge that flows through a conductor when a
current of 5A flows through it for 2 minutes.
I=5A Q=I x t
t=2 min=2x60=120sec Q=5 x 120
Q=? Q=600C

2.Why does the sun appear reddish during sunrise and sunset?
The distance between sun and earth is more during sunrise and sunset , when
sun light falls on smaller particles it scatters a light of shorter wavelength but
red colour having more wave length and unscattered will travel a longer
distance and hence sunrise and sunset appears red.

3.Why red colour light is used in traffic signals?

Because red colour is least scattered and has more wavelength.

4.Dumping of non biodegradable wastes reduce crop yield.Why?

a)It causes soil pollution and also water pollution.
b)It decreases the fertility of the soil.

5.Aqueous solution of sodium sulphate is mixed with aqueous solution of

barium chloride.Identify the type of chemical change and write the balanced
chemical equation.
It is a double displacement reaction.
Na2SO4 +BaCl2 →BaSO4 + 2NaCl

6.Name the devices use to avoid overload.

Fuse , earthwire and MCB

7.Some people in old age develop both myopia and hypermetropia.How can
this problem be corrected?
This problem can be corrected by using bifocal lens.

8.Name the type of respiration in which end products are

a)C2H5OH and CO2 :Anaerobic respiration (Absence of oxygen)
b)lactic acid: Anaerobic respiration (Lack of oxygen)
9..Differentiate between saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon.
Saturated Unsaturated
1.It has single bond 1.It has double or triple bond
2.It is less reactive 2.It is more reactive
3.It undergoes substituition 3.It undergoes addition reaction
reaction
4.It gives blue flame 4.It gives yellow sooty flame.
Eg:alkane Eg: alkene and alkyne

10.Hydrogenation of oil are necessary and why?

Hydrogenation of oil is important because it converts vegetable oil into solid
vanaspathi.This increases the shelf life of oil and prevent oil from getting
rancid.

11.A colour less lead salt , when heated , produces a yellow residue and brown
fumes.
i)Name the lead salt. Ii)Name the brown fumes
Lead salt is lead nitrate The brown fumes is of Nitrogen dioxide gas
iii)Write a chemical equation of the reaction involved.
2Pb(NO3)2 Heat 2PbO + 4NO2 + O2
(Colourless) (Yellow) (Brown fumes)

12.You arte given the following molecular formula of some hydrocarbon.

C3H8 , C7H14 , C6H6 , C5H10 , C7H12 , C6H12.
i)Which molecular formula represents benzene?
C6H6
ii)Which molecular formula represents cyclohexane as well as hexene?
C6H12

13.a)A convex lens of focal length is 10cm.Calculate its power.

f=10cm=10/100=1/10 m P=1/f
P=? P=1/1/10
P=10D
b)In spherical mirror write the relation ship between object distance , image
distance and focal length.
𝟏 𝟏 𝟏
= +
𝐟 𝐕 𝐔

14.Explain the methods of

a)Oxygen supply to the cells:In the blood haemoglobin has more affinity
towards oxygen.It take oxygen from the air in the lungs and carry it to each
and every cell.
b)Release of CO2 to the atmosphere from the cells during the process of
transportation in humans:CO2 is more soluble in water than oxygen and
hence is mostly transported in the dissolved form in our blood.

15.Identify the parts and their functions.

1)Renal artery:It carries oxygenated blood to glomerulus .
2)Glomerulus:It filters waste such as glucose , amino acid , salt and water
present in blood.
3)Bowmans capsule:It helps glomerulus to filter the blood.
4)Renal vein:It carries deoxygenated blood from kidney.

16.A beam of light moving from air to water obliquely enters the water.The
beam of light bends towards the normal or away from the normal.Why?
The beam of light bends towards the normal.
Because air is rarer medium and water is denser medium so water refractive
index is more and hence speed of light decreases.

17.The plant part which exhibits negative geotropism is …………

A)Root B)Stem C)Branches D)Leaves
B)Stem

18.a)Name the bond present in NaCl. b)Name the bond present in MgCl 2
Ionic bond Ionic bond
c)write the characteristics of that bond.
1)It is solid and hard
2)It has high MP and BP
3)They conduct electricity at molten state
4)They do not conduct electricity at solid state.
19.State laws of refraction.
I Law: The incident ray , normal ray and refracted ray all lie in the same plane.
II Law:The ratio of sine of an angle of incdence to that of sine of angle of
refraction is constant.

20.Write the chemical equation for the following:

a)methane burns in air
CH4 + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O +Heat
b)Ethanoic acid reacts with sodium carbonate.
2CH3COOH + Na2CO3→2CH3COONa + H2O + CO2
C)Ethanoic acid reacts with sodium hydroxide.
CH3COOH + NaOH →CH3COONa + H2O

21.What is vegetative propogation?What are its advantages?

A method of asexual reproduction in which getting a new plants from
vegetative parts.
Advantages:a)large number of plants obtained in short interval.
b)We get a disease resistant plant.
c)We get a seedless fruit.
d)They are genetically similar.

22.What are alkalis?

The bases which are soluble in water.

23.What is lymph?Write its function.

A colourless fluid similar in structue to blood.
a)It carries digested fat from small intestine.
b)It acts as a body defenece since it contains WBC.

24.What is the role of saliva in the digestion of food?
