B. percent
C. Percentage
D. rate
2. How many is 75% of a class?
A. 1/3
B. 1/2
C. 3/4
D. 5/6
3.Which of the following is correct?

A. 33% = 0.33 C. 33% = 33

C. Establishing a purpose for the - How many of you have gone to Tanay Save More?
lesson/ Motivation - Have you dream of buying new pair of shoes?
- Do you want to know how much will you save when you buy items on Sale?
D. Presenting examples/instances Let us learn first this song!
of the new lesson/Motivation PERCENTAGE, RATE AND BASE (Tune Kung Ikaw ay Masaya)

The BASE the quantity

that represents the whole
PERCENTAGE is a part of the base
The RATE is the comparison
of .. the percentage
to the base expressed in percent.

When you want discount or a commission

PERABA the acronym to be used
This represents the formula
In finding the percentage, the rate
And likewise with the base.
E. Discussing new concepts and TEEHAN’S TRIANGLE
practicing new skills No. 1
P

R B

Acronym: PERABA
P-PERCENTAGE
R-RATE
B-BASE
Formula:
P= R X B
R= P ÷ B
B= P ÷ R
Since we are looking for Percentage. Cover the P then what is left are R and B or the Rate and Base. So multiply
Rate by the Base showing 20% x Php 2000 this way :
P= R X B
P = 20 % X 2000
P = 0.20 X 2000 = 400
F. Discussing new concepts and Study the number sentence in this problem:
practicing new skills No. 2 20% of 2,000.00 is 400

RATE
20% is the rate. It is given as percent. It can be expressed as a ratio or as a fraction. (Rate is the number with the %
sign.)

20% of 2,000.00 is 400

BASE
2,000.00 is called the base. It is the whole of which you take the percent. Base is the number that usually follows
the phrase “percent of”.

20% of 2,000.00 is 400

PERCENTAGE
400 is called the percentage, meaning part of the whole

Will Anne saves a lot for this pair of shoes?

Do you think is it right to buy items on sale?
Why?

G. Developing Mastery (Leads to LET’S PLAY : PASS IT ON

Formative Assessment) DIRECTIONS: Pass the ball while playing the PERABA song. Once the music stopped, the learner holding the ball will
squeeze the ball to make sound then identify the given elements. The one beside the learner holding the ball will
give the answer for the missing term.
1. N is 30% of 90?
2. What is 78% of 100?
3. 75% of 60 is N?
GROUP ACTIVITY
Group Activity Rules
• Stay in your group
• Participate
• Everyone’s ideas are important
• Work quietly
Directions:
Identify what element is asking in the problem and then solve for it. You only have 3 minutes to write your answer
in the answer sheet. Once you are done, do your yell and present you output on the board.

Group 1:
Directions: Tell whether the problem is asking for base, rate or percentage and then solve for it.
Ivy listened very well to the teacher during the discussion of the lesson. When they were given a 5-item test
she got 4 correct answer. What percent of the test did she correctly answered.?
Group 2:
There are 40 pupils in a class. Seventy-five percent of them are present. How many pupils are present?

In my aquarium, I placed 24 different fishes. 75% of the fishes were gold fish. How many gold fish were there
in the aquarium?
H. Finding Practical Application of Individual Activity:
Concepts and Skills in Daily Lives Directions:
Identify what is Rate, Base and Percentage.
Rate Base Percentage
1.) 20% of 80 is 16
2.) 54 is 45% of 120

3.) 13% of 300 is 39

4.) N is 85%of 40

5.) 30% of 120 is N

I. Making Generalization and How can you identify the percentage, rate or percent, and base?
Abstraction We can use the formula P = R X B in finding Percentage.
