Mathematic 1. Numbers:

● Identify a rational number as a number that can be expressed in the form of
p/q, where p and q are integers and q ≠ 0.
● Recognize the difference between Rational and Irrational numbers.
● Know different types of Real Numbers’ subsets (Whole, Integers, Rational
and Irrational numbers).
● Recall using negative numbers in different contexts.
● Use a number line to illustrate the position of any real number.
● Find the absolute value of any real number.
● Use the concept of place value to identify the place value of each digit in
decimal numbers (up to 5 decimal places) and integers (up to ten million).
● Arrange the absolute or numerical values of any real number in ascending
or descending order.
● Use symbols <, >, =, ≤, and ≥ to compare different types of real numbers
● Reinforce rounding any real number to a required degree of accuracy (up to
3 decimal places for decimal numbers).
2. The Four Operators:
● Recall and use the concept of order of operations to solve numerical
expressions involving real numbers.
● Reinforce using commutative, associative and distributive properties of the
four operations in number calculations.
● Reinforce addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of positive and
negative real numbers.
● Recall using knowledge of rounding to give an estimate to a calculation and
use it to check the reasonableness of an answer.
● Solve word problems with real-life contexts that involve addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division of real numbers (including decimal
numbers.
3. Factors and Multiples:
● Reinforce finding prime factors of a given number (up to 5- digits) -
expressing its factors in the index notation (base and exponent)
● Reinforce calculation of LCM and HCF of multi digit numbers (up to 3
different numbers)
● Use LCM and HCF in problem solving (with real life contexts)
4. Square Roots:
● Calculate squares of numbers up to 2 digits (with or without using a
calculator).
● Recall the Perfect square numbers.
● Calculate square roots of perfect squares (using prime factorization) of
Integers, Decimals and Fractions.
5. Direct and Inverse Proportion:
● Recognize when two quantities are in direct or inverse proportion.
● Calculate direct proportion (using either unitary method or proportion
method).
● Solve word problems involving direct proportion.
● Calculate inverse proportion (using either unitary method or proportion
method).
● Solve word problems involving inverse proportion.
6. Speed, Time and Distance
● Reinforce converting between 12hour clock and 24 hour clock and vice
versa.
● Calculate the difference between two times, and find start or end times for
a given time interval (including cases that involve on the previous day and
the next day).
● Calculate arrival time, departure time and journey time in a given situation,
● Use “Distance = Speed × Time” formula to find any one quantity when the
other two quantities are given (Conversion between units of speed is not
included).
● Solve word problems with real-life contexts, involving distance, time and
speed.
Geometry:
7. 2D- shapes:
● Classify triangles according to angles and sides
● Know the properties of a range of common 2D shapes [square, rectangle,
triangle, parallelogram, rhombus, kite and trapezium]
● Identify and name parts of circles, including its center, radius, diameter,
chord, arc, major and minor arcs, semicircle and segment of the circle
(Properties of circles are not included)
● Identify lines of symmetry and order of rotational symmetry in triangles,
quadrilaterals and regular polygons

8. Lines and Angle Properties:


● Identify interior and exterior angles in triangles.
● Understand and use the “sum of all angles properties” of triangles, and the
concept of interior and exterior angles in triangles to calculate missing
angle(s) in triangles.
● Reinforce the following angle properties: adjacent angles on a line,
vertically opposite angles, angles on a point, Alternate angles,
corresponding angles and interior angles between parallel lines, sum of
complementary angles, sum of supplementary angles.
● “sum of all angles properties” of triangles, quadrilaterals and regular
polygons.
● Understand and use the “sum of all angles properties” of triangles and
quadrilaterals to calculate missing angle(s) in rectangles, parallelograms,
rhombus, trapeziums and kites.

9. Construction of triangles:
● Construct a triangle (using ruler and/or protractor and/or compass) when:
➔ three sides (SSS) are given.
➔ length of base and the two base angles are given.
➔ hypotenuse and one side are given (in a right angle triangle).
10. Statistics:
● Difference between discrete and continuous data.
● Difference between grouped and ungrouped data.
● Interpret grouped frequency tables for discrete and continuous data.
● Know the following concepts: Frequency, Tally marks, Range, Lower class
limit, Upper class limit, Class interval (class size).
● Differentiate between a histogram and a bar chart.
● Construct histogram for grouped and ungrouped data.
● Calculating mean, median, mode and range for any ungrouped data.
● Calculate mean of grouped data.
● Solve problems with real life contexts, involving mean, median, mode and
range.
