SABBATH
“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another,
shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.” Isaiah 66:23

Humans today have various ways of worshipping. Aside from those who worship gods where behind
the scenes the devil is being worshipped, there are those who worship in human traditions which are not
God's instructions. Unfortunately, they think they are giving glory to God, but in fact they are giving
glory to the devil.

Revelation 4:11 clearly states that the one who deserves to be worshipped is the Creator. Compare also
the message of the first angel who calls upon all mankind to worship God in Revelation 14:7.
Knowing who is worthy of worship is the first step, and now the second step is knowing how to worship Him.
It is in the way of worshiping Him that there has been a great problem.
Many religious groups with conflicting views all claim to worship the Creator.
Let us ask ourselves the question, If the Creator is one Ephesians 4:5,6 why are there those groups? Of
course there must be a truth behind it all, at the end of the day only one day will it be correct because
God is only One. The question, WHAT IS THAT?

John 4:24 states that God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and Truth. When
He speaks of the Spirit He is speaking of the Holy Spirit and by Truth He is speaking of His Word. True
worshippers will be led by the Holy Spirit in the True Word of God and then their worship will be authentic.
The question is, WHAT DOES HIS WORD SAY?

Isaiah 66:23 It says that all flesh shall worship before the Lord, Sabbath to Sabbath. You may say that is after
Jesus returns and not from now on. But the only ones who will enter the new city are those who lived in this
world doing the will of the Lord. Does the Sabbath that Isaiah is talking about exist today? Indeed the
Sabbath existed from the very beginning at the climax of the creation week Genesis 2:1-3.

In fact, we cannot talk about the Sabbath without mentioning creation. Because the week of
creation is completed by the Sabbath being the seventh day of the week of creation. If you read the
entire story of creation Genesis 1:1-27 everything God saw was good, but there was no day that God
blessed and sanctified. Now don't come back and say that other days were cursed or not! The blessings of
the Seventh day were special blessings that accompanied the sanctification of that day. Sanctification
means setting aside for a special purpose. Of course, God set this day apart to be holy for Him because it
was the day He rested and stopped working. Now this does not mean that God was tired of the work of
creation. He evaluated and saw everything as it was designed.

Consider the example of a contractor who has a plan for all of his work and all that will be needed on paper,
and now the work is complete, and before he hands over the work, he evaluates it by reviewing the
entire plan to see if it has gone as planned and after it has been submitted, he hands it over.

It was God's plan even before He began to create that He would create everything in six days, and also
that there would be a Holy Rest on the seventh day. This rest would give man a chance to stop
doing his work, also to remember that there is a God who created everything in six days and rested on
the Seventh day. And that is why He blessed and sanctified the seventh day and called it the Sabbath.

Exodus 20:8-11 The Sabbath of the seventh day of the week we see is the most special day given to
man for worship, and that is why in the fourth Commandment God says to remember the seventh day
and keep it holy. This worship of the seventh day of the week is very special and is completely different
from the daily worship because every day we should have time to worship our God because we rely on
his power at all times. The Seventh Day is a day to leave everything else and focus our thoughts on
the Creator alone.

Leviticus 23:3 and Luke 4:16 also Hebrews 10:25 These verses from the Old and New Testaments will
also provide evidence of God ordering a holy assembly on the Sabbath, Jesus assembling on
the Sabbath but also the early Churches led by the apostles.

So that we can worship the Creator in Spirit and Truth, we have seen in His inspired word that He
established the seventh day. There have been teachings from many churches that mislead their
believers that the Sabbath is only for the Jews, Mark 2:27,28 It clearly states that the Sabbath is
for all mankind and Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.
Some accuse Jesus of abolishing the Sabbath, but he himself said he did not come to change anything
in God's Law (Matthew 5:17).

In the fourth Commandment Exodus 20:8-11, God said to remember the seventh day and keep it holy
because He knew that there were people who would knowingly or unknowingly forget or neglect it.
Very gently even today he reminds us to remember the seventh day and keep it holy. Because of the
existence of people with hard hearts who dare to reject God's instructions, Jesus said to them in Mark
7:9,13 You reject the commandment of God in order to hold to your human traditions, and yet there
are many such.

The Seventh-day Sabbath not only directs us to worship our Creator who loves us so much, it is also a
Commandment of God. Hebrews 4:4-9 Paul emphasizes that reminding the Hebrews that
the Sabbath was not changed, not even the death of Jesus on the Cross changed the Sabbath. It
is more important to listen to God than to man. That is, it is more important to listen to the word of
God than to the traditions of religious leaders who teach lies.

The seventh day mentioned in the Bible, in the day names we use today, is Saturday. And the
first day is Sunday, which means that the sixth day is Friday. Therefore, the proper day of worship is
Saturday.
