Lesson Plan: Plant Growth

Learning Objectives:

1. Cognitive: Students will understand and describe the stages of plant

growth and the factors (sunlight, water, soil) necessary for plant
development.

2. Affective: Students will develop an appreciation for the importance of

plants in the environment and demonstrate sense of responsibility by
taking care of their planted seeds.

3. Psychomotor: Students will plant seeds, water them, and arrange

pictures of the plant growth stages in the correct order.

Materials:

Small pots or cups

Seeds (e.g., beans or fast-growing seeds)

Soil and water

Sunlight exposure chart or grow light for demonstration

Plant growth stages chart/diagram (with cut-out images)

Worksheets for recording observations

Procedure:

Introduction (5-10 minutes):

Begin with an open-ended question: "What do plants need to grow?"

Display a live plant and encourage students to share their observations.

Briefly explain that plants grow in stages and depend on specific factors to
thrive.

Activity 1 (15 minutes):

Planting Activity (Psychomotor):

Each student plants a seed in a small pot with soil.

Guide them through the steps of planting, including adding soil, planting
the seed, and watering it.

Discuss how sunlight will help the seeds grow as they observe the
process.

Activity 2 (15 minutes):

Sorting Game (Cognitive & Psychomotor):

Provide students with cut-out pictures of the plant growth stages: seed,
sprout, young plant, mature plant.

Ask them to arrange the pictures in the correct order and match each
stage with the necessary growth factors (e.g., water, sunlight, soil).

Conclusion (10 minutes):

Summarize the stages of plant growth and the role of sunlight, water, and
soil.

Ask reflective questions to engage the affective domain:

"Why do you think plants are important to us?"

"How can we take better care of plants in our surroundings?"

Share fun facts about unusual plants to keep students curious and
engaged.

Assessment:

1. Cognitive: Check students’ worksheets and observe their ability to

correctly explain plant growth stages and essential factors.

2. Affective: Monitor their responses and attitude toward taking care of

their plants during the discussion.

3. Psychomotor: Observe how they perform the planting activity and

arrange the growth stages in the correct sequence.
