FAMILY RELATIONS

1. How has family life changed in the past decades?

The most important change that has taken place is that families are no longer dominated by
the husband. In today's world, the majority of women go out to work and build their careers.
Obviously this also means that women have become responsible for two jobs, which is
extremly difficult for them to carry out.

2. Are you in favour of traditional or modern family patterns? Why?

I believe a democratic relationship within the family is much more to my liking that following
the tradition roles. As i see both parents should take part in family life, for example sharing all
the duties and tasks. Moreover theres some men even enjoy cooking and treat it like a hobby
rather than a chore.

Yes, woman can be a mother, a wife, and have a career at the same time. It takes good
planning, support, and knowing what is most important. Many women enjoy doing all these
roles together. Everyone’s balance is different, and it’s important to respect their choices.

6. What is an ideal husband like?

I believe the ideal husband is one who is caring honest and treasures his family like no one
else. One who will actually listen to a converstation that you have started and make intelligent
remarks. For me it's also important to take part in family life, such as doing the housework.

7. How do people get married in Hungary?

Getting married begins with the engagement that usually take place after a certain period of
dating each other. It's usually the man who proposes to the woman and ask her to marry him.
Nowday people can have a religious ceremony or a civil ceremony. After the ceremony the
guest are invited to a party which usually takes place in a restaurant where they also get
dinner.
8. What other alternatives are there to marriage?
Cohabitation or common-law marriage is a form of living together in a sexual retalionship for
couples who don’t want to undertake the legal proceedings of marriage. This kind of living
arrangement has both its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of cohabitation is that
it lowers the cost of living. But the disadvantage is that it makes it easier for a partner to walk
out of the relationship.

9. What are the most common problems affecting family life?

The most common problems include poor communication, financial stress, and lack of quality
time together. Disagreements about parenting or household responsibilities can lead to stress.
Work-life balance and outside influences, like social expectations, can also make family life
harder.

The growing number of divorces is the end-product of the changes that hae taken place both
in society and the individuall. People now have higher expectations for happiness and
personal fulfillment in marriage. Additionally, financial pressures and poor communication
often lead to conflicts that couples struggle to resolve.

Divorce is generally a very painful process for all the participants, even if it based on mutual

conditions more common than ever before.

I come from a large family, I’ve got 4 brother and 8 sister. I’m in the middle of the row.
Living in a big family is fun, there is always something happening around you, you never get
bored. It’s true, that sometimes it’s impossible to have some privancy even if you really need
it. Obviously there are more disadvantages, but growing up in a family like mine, the
advantages always outweigh the disadvantages.

– qualities that are important for being a good citizenship. Living with many people
encourages cooperation and learning to share. It also helps children understand the value of
working together for the common good.
15. Is there an ideal age for having a baby?
As I see it, it depends on more things. For example, biologically, your late 20s is a great time
to have your first children. But there are so many affect that age, like when you meet the right
person, your job and financial situation, and most importantly, your emotional readiness to
take on this lifelong responsibility.

16. Should a good mother stay at home with her children?

In my opinion, a good mother knows what education to give her children without giving up
her job. Moreover, a mother is a good mother when she’s able to combine both things. A good
mother knows what advice to give her children and listens to their problems. Children should
be able to learn how to make decisions on theri own and not always ask their mother to be
next to them in difficult moments.

17. What are the most important aspects of bringing up a child?

First and foremost setting a good example to our children is important because children learn
a lot by observing the behavior of adults. Besides, providing love, support, and guidance helps
children develop confidence and emotional stability. Moreover, teaching children
responsibility and respect for others prepares them for a successful and fulfilling life.

They have all sorts of problems: rows with their parents, trouble a school and how to get on
with the opposite sex. Hungarian schools are very demanding, students are overburned and
they have to study a lot. Therefore they don’t have enought free time to relax and meet their
friends.

19. Is it more difficult to raise a child nowdays than it was before?

Raising a child today can be harder than before due to the pressures of modern life, like social
