What are Versions?

Think of versions like software updates. When software gets updated to a new version, it might have

Version 6.1
Midjourney Policies
Version 6.1 was released on July 30, 2024 as the current default model. It produces more coherent
Billing Support images with more precise details and textures, and generates images approximately 25% faster
than Version 6.
Version 6
Version 6 was released on December 20, 2023, and was the default model from February 14 to July
30, 2024. Version 6 has enhanced prompt accuracy for longer inputs, improved coherence and
knowledge, and advanced image prompting and remixing capabilities.
Niji 6
Niji models are a special series within Midjourney, developed in collaboration with Spellbrush to
focus on Eastern and anime aesthetics and illustrative styles. These models are perfect for anyone
interested in creating artwork with vibrant, detailed visuals that capture the essence of anime. Niji
models even have their own dedicated website and Discord server, providing a tailored experience
for anime enthusiasts.
The Niji 6 model, released on June 7, 2024, features improved rendering of Japanese text, handling
short Japanese kana text effectively and, at times, even rendering simple Chinese characters.
Additionally, it offers better image detail, particularly in elements like the structure of anime eyes,
and addresses certain minor image artifacts that affected a small number of previous generations.
