MASS - Bulk Master Data Changes in SAP

To make massive modifications to SAP of master data, there are several options, such as
uploads using LSMW, recordings, CATT's or custom programs that perform batch-input.

In addition to these options, there is a very useful transaction that does not require
technical knowledge to use, which is the mass modification transaction (MASS
transaction).

The MASS transaction allows SAP data to be modified in bulk. Once the MASS transaction
is accessed, the first step is to decide on the type of object to modify.

By clicking on the drop-down menu that appears in the Object Type field, we can see all
the objects that can be modified by this transaction (Profit Center, Profit Master, Profit
Master, Profit Centre, Profit Master, Profit Master, T
Materials, Article Master, Business Partner, Rental Unit, Mass Activity Mat.,
Orders, Purchase Delivery Plan, Purchase Contract, Offer to a Customer, Customer Order,
Customer Contract, Measurement Request, Order Request, Purchase Info Record, G/L
Account, Customers, Suppliers).

In this article, we are going to make the example case that we want to massively block all
the accounts in the Balance Sheet to prevent postings in the accounts of the GKR chart of
accounts.

By pressing the Run button, we access the following screen where we must select the
fields we want to modify. In our case, we have to mark the Block Contt field.
By clicking on the execute button, we access a transaction where we indicate the
conditions for selecting the records we want to modify.

Pressing the button , we added the condition to select

for modification those
accounts that are balance sheet and we meet the conditions of the records to be modified.
By pressing the execute button, an information window appears with the number of
records to be modified.

By clicking on the option to View all logs, the change monitoring screen appears.

At the top we see the values of the fields we want to modify and we mark with "X" the
checkbox that indicates the posting block (see red box).
Once the new value that we want to assign to the records that appear below has been
entered, we must transfer the value to each of the records. To do this, we must click on the
black box.

If we look at the black box, we see that we have passed the new Lock value for postings to
all records.

To proceed with the changes, you must press the Record button and automatically the
changes have been made.
