Brief Description:
Movies created a revolutionary change in the Filipino culture as it continues to shape
and inspire the next generation to understand the different walks of life through the
eyes of creatives. The cinematic masterpieces that had made its way to the silver
screens would not only just entertain through fiction but also touch the hearts of the
communities that are being represented in documentaries. It serves as a powerful
medium for storytelling, preserving history, and showcasing the country’s diverse
traditions, languages, and social issues.
Philippine cinema has also influenced popular culture, from fashion to music, and has
helped foster a sense of national pride. Additionally, it has provided a platform for
social commentary, raising awareness about political and societal concerns. A prime
example is the movie “BuyBust”, directed by Eric Matti, wherein it was shown how the
previous political administration influenced the enforcers and the people.
