1. My favourite community helper is a firefighter.

He typically wears specialized uniforms that

include protective gear. He is a dedicated, brave, and quick-thinking individual. He responds to
fire incidents, accidents, and natural disasters to protect lives and property for communities. He
also engages in public programs, educating people on fire safety and prevention. I have immense
respect and gratitude for him. He is a true hero in real life.
2. I love city life. First, it is very convenient to live in the city. The public transport system reaches
almost all areas of the city, so it is easy for me to get around. In addition, there are many shops
that sell all kinds of goods, so I can buy almost everything I need. Second, the city often has
many good schools and hospitals. Therefore, people here can enjoy quality education and
healthcare. Finally, city life is exciting. There are many entertainment places for me and my
friends. For example, we can hang out at shopping malls, watch movies at the cinema, and visit
beautiful parks downtown. In conclusion, I find the city a liveable place for me.
3. There are many things we should do to manage our time effectively. Firstly, we should set
specific goals and prioritise them according to their importance level. This will help us keep
focused on our most important tasks and avoid wasting time on tasks that do not contribute to our
goals. Secondly, creating a schedule or to-do list can help us manage our time efficiently by
breaking down our day into manageable chunks. We should also be realistic about how long each
task will take and build in extra time for unexpected interruptions or delays. Thirdly, it is
essential to eliminate distractions and time-wasting activities, such as social media or unnecessary
meetings, which can reduce our productivity. By following these tips, we can effectively manage
our time and achieve success in all aspects of our life.
4. In the past, students had lessons in the morning only. They had the usual subjects like Math,
Literature, Ethics, History, and Geography. They often do not take extra classes and have little
homework. Therefore, they have a lot of time to have fun as well as help their parents with
housework and farm work. During leisure time, they immersed themselves in the world of books
and engaged in traditional games. Summer holidays were a cherished break, extending for about
three months, creating a sense of endless freedom. They used to go to school by foot or by bike.
For them, although the old school life had many difficulties, there was a great time with many
beautiful memories.
5. I had very pleasant experiences at my school. The first lovely experience I had was when I did
community service last year. I joined the school English club, and tutored some primary school
students for a semester. Their English became better, and they were much more confident in
English lessons. The second memorable experience I had was going on a camping trip with my
classmates. We went to a village about 20 km from our school. Here, we put up tent, decorated it
and we also won the competition of tent decoration. We sang and danced and took a lot of photos.
I also remember winning the first prize in the school chess competition that year. The school then
presented me with a chess set. All these pleasant experiences will go with me forever.
6. the changes in my family over the past five years. It’s still a nuclear family with two generations.
But our living conditions are much better. Two years ago, my father found another job and he
earns more money now. We now have an air conditioner and a washing machine. Sometimes we
can eat out or go on holiday. My father also spends more time with my brother and me. He
teaches us how to do the chores that adult men should be able to do. We act more like friends. My
parents respect our independence and privacy.
7. There is a beautiful river near my home. It is called Dong Son River. It is not very large, but it is
nice and peaceful. On the right bank of the river near my village, there are rice fields and patches
of green grass. There are also bushes and a lot of wild flowers. At weekends a lot of people gather
here for entertainment. Young people go camping and have a picnic. Old people may spend their
time fishing or playing chess. Many swim in the river or row a boat on it. This place is becoming
more and more popular, so it is more and more crowded. I think the authorities need to do
something to protect this natural beauty.
8. Last summer, Mai’s family went to Hue. Since her parents did not have much time to organize
the tour by themselves, they booked a four-day package tour. The travel agency arranged
everything for them: the air tickets, accommodation, the places to visit, and transportation. The
tour was trouble-free as Mai’s father said. They had to follow a fixed schedule, but they felt ok
with it. The tour guide was friendly and helpful. Coming home, everybody was satisfied with the
service the agency offered.
9. When learning English, I find grammar the most challenging and I have done several things to
improve it. Firstly, I have a good grammar book. I do the exercises in the book, and whenever I
have a grammatical question, I quickly refer to it. The book makes me more confident in writing
and speaking. Secondly, I read English books. When I read, I come across different grammar
rules. This helps me learn and remember grammar naturally. Last but not least, I learn grammar
from teachers and friends. Sometimes I meet a difficult grammatical point and cannot understand
it even after I consult in my grammar book. In this case I ask my friends and teachers for help.
These are the three things I have done to improve my English grammar.
10. Mr. An talks about the effects of plants and animals on the habitats. He said that plants can harm
or protect the environment. Plants can make places more beautiful and they can harm the
environment by taking over the natural resources of local plants. He also said that animal can
harm or improve the environment as well. He gave an example of beavers. Beavers can build
dams and ponds which help some plants and animals. But beavers can cause flood to homes of
other plants and animals. He concluded that humans should preserve habitats, stop destroying
forest habitats, and stop using pesticides.
