Lesson Development

Block 1
 Apply Conditional Formatting
 Remove Conditional Formatting

Apply Conditional Formatting

You can use Excel Conditional Formatting feature to assign certain formatting, only
when the value of the cell meets the specified condition.

Method

1. Select the cells to which you want to apply conditional


formatting.
2. On the Home tab.
3. Click on Conditional Formatting.
4. Click on Highlight Cells Rules.
5. Now select the operator (such as greater than, less

than…) you want to assign for condition.


6. Associated dialog box will appear.

7. Enter the numeric value or text for the condition here.

8. Choose a format to apply.

9. Click on OK.
Remove Conditional Formatting

Method

1. Select the cells from which you want to remove the


conditional formatting.
2. On the Home tab.
3. Click on Conditional Formatting.
4. Choose Clear Rules.
5. Click on Clear Rules from Selected Cells.
6. The conditional formatting will be removed.

Activity

Create an Excel sheet containing marks of your Term-1 examination. Apply conditional
formatting to subjects you have scored below 50%, highlight the cells two yellow colour.
