Subject Matter: Whole Numbers by Decimals up to 2 Decimal Places

References: K-12 Math 6 in Action, 21st Century Mathletes and Module in Math 6
Materials: Activity Sheets, Pictures, Flash Cards
A. Preliminary Activities:
1. Drill:
Conduct a drill on basic division facts using a flash cards.
36÷4= 64÷4= 81÷3 = 42÷6= 18÷3=

2. Review:
7.2÷32= 9.2÷45= 26.4 ÷ 6= 6.72 ÷ 8= 18.16 ÷ 8=

3. Motivation:
Show a basket of Liputi. Elicit from the pupils the answer of the following
questions:
Ask: What are in the basket?
Are you familiar with Liputi? Can anybody describe the taste?
Is it good to produce food and local products? Why?

Now, let us have these fruit as part of our next discussion.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation:
Mang Nilo harvests 50 kilograms of liputi a day. He packs it into a smaller
bag. Each pack in the smaller bag weighs 0.25 kilos. How many small plastic
bags are needed by Mang Nilo?

Ask: How many kilograms of Liputi can Mang Nilo harvest in a day?
What does the problem ask for?
How will you solve the problem?

Now, I will teach you the step by step process on how could you solve
the problem.

The teacher will show the process on dividing a whole numbers by

decimals up to 2 decimal place.
(Show your solution Step by step)
Step 1.Change the divisor to whole number by moving the decimal point to
the right as many places as there are decimals in the divisor.

Step 2. Annex zeros to the dividend equal to the number of significant places
moved in the divisor.

Step 3. Divide the number as you divide whole numbers.

Step 4. Check your work by multiplying the quotient by the divisor. The
product should be equal to the dividend.

2. Performing Activities

Now, let me see if you understand the steps or the process on dividing a
whole numbers by decimals.

Group the pupils into 3 groups. Distribute Activity Card to each group. Let
each group solve the problem given to them.

3. Processing the Activities:

Presentation of outputs by the leaders of the group

4. Reinforcing the Activities

Discuss the presentation then give the following activities.
a. Find the quotient. Check your answer.

1. 64 ÷ 0.02
2. 35 ÷ 0.7
3. 48 ÷ 0.06
4. 72 ÷ 0.8
5. 95 ÷ 0.09

5. Generalization
Ask: How do you divide a whole number by a decimal?
What are the ways of making the divisor a whole number?
If you change the divisor into a whole number what will you do with the
dividend?
6. Application

1. 132 ÷ 0.03
2. 264 ÷ 0.42
3. 480 ÷ 0.43
4. 39102 ÷ 0.06
5. 848 ÷ 0.04

C. Assessment

Solve and Check:

1. 1225 ÷ 0.05
2. 480 ÷ 0.12
3. 480 ÷ 0.08
4. 264 ÷ 0.06
5. 672 ÷ 0.8

D. Home Activity
1. 19470 ÷ 0.30 2. 11868 ÷ 0.23 3. 105 ÷ 0.05
