COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. To the mathematical modeling of control systems using transfer function and impulse response
functions
2. To know the transient and steady state responses of first and second order systems
3. To know the fundamentals of root locus technique
4. To represent control systems in state space

COURSE OUTCOMES:
After successful completion of the course, the students are able to
1. Understand mathematical models of linear discrete-time control systems using transfer functions and
state-spacemodels.
2. Identify the needs of different types of controllers and compensator to ascertain the required dynamic
response from the system
3. Formulate different types of analysis in frequency domain to explain the nature of stability of the
system
4. Analyse state space representation from transfer function

Open Loop Control, Mathematical modeling of Dynamic systems, Mathematical models transfer
function and Impulse Response function, Automatic Control Systems, Block Diagram Reduction

Transient and Steady-State Response Analyses: Introduction, First-Order Systems, Second-Order


Systems, Steady-State Errors in Unity Feedback Control Systems. Effect of P,PI,PID controllers on
control system. Lead Compensation, Lag Compensation, Lag-Lead Compensation, Routh Hurwitz
Stability Criterion.
