Grading Policy and Course Curriculum

The Advanced Power System Optimization course (ELL776) covers various optimization techniques applicable to power systems, including linear and non-linear programming, economic load dispatch, and unit commitment. Evaluation is based on mid-semester, end-semester exams, quizzes, tutorials, and a term project, with a total of 100 marks. Attendance must be above 75% to avoid grade penalties, and students are encouraged to use MOODLE for updates and resources.

calculation and properties; Unit Commitment: Branch and bound method, evolutionary
computing methods; Security constrained OPF: Conventional and market consideration

Pre-Requisite: Basics of power system optimization

2. Evaluation criterion
Mid-Sem: 15 Marks
End-Sem: 40 Marks
Quizzes: 20 Marks
Tutorials: 10 Marks
Term project: 15 Marks
-----------------------------
Total: 100 Marks

3. Attendance criterion
If a student has an attendance of less than 75%, then he/she will get a grade down.
4. Audit criterion
The audit pass (NP) grade is awarded if the student’s attendance is above 75% in the class,
and he/she has obtained at least ‘D’ grade.

• Be punctual in the classroom.
• Install MATLAB on your laptops.
• Two feedback forms will be shared with you all. One after Mid-Sem exams and
another before End-Sem. Please take the time to fill them out sincerely and provide
your valuable suggestions. Additionally, you are welcome to share your feedback
