FIVE THINGS…

LEVEL: A1 - A2

OBJECTIVE: Ss will practice, improve and express emotion related

vocabulary learning and using words they use on a daily basis.

RESOURCES: One piece of paper for each team.

ACTIVITY: The teacher selects a category such as 'Five things that make
you happy'. Each team chooses one student to be the 'runner'. The runners
go to the teacher and read the category. The runners then go back to their
teams and tell their team members the category. The teams then brainstorm
words from that category and write them down. The first team to finish shouts
‘STOP’ and then calls out their answers (each word makes a point)
They score one point for each word in the category that matches with the
teacher’s
Some examples can be:
- “Most delicious food”
- “Most adorable animals”
- “Five dishes that make you happy”
- “Five activities you enjoy doing”
(The teacher is free to create as many categories as they consider necessary)

EVIDENCE: Students will finish the class by turning in the piece of paper
where they brainstormed words for the different categories, and each
misspelled word will be removed from the points.
IT REMINDS ME OF…

LEVEL: A1 - A2

OBJECTIVE: Ss will practice past simple and past continuous tenses. They
will also practice emotions vocabulary.

RESOURCES: Flashcard with emotions, past sentences functions board.

ACTIVITY: Teacher will prepare a list of emotions and hide cards with each
emotion around the institution. Students must look at the cards and associate
each emotion with a personal experience of happiness and tell it to the
classroom.

EVIDENCE: Students will produce a final short speech talking about a past
experience from the ones triggered by the flashcards.

BEING HUNGRY MAKES ME SUPER HAPPY.

LEVEL: A1 - A2

OBJECTIVE: To recognise images and associate them with verbs, activities

and likes or dislikes from people.

RESOURCES: Pieces of cardboard where students can draw their activities.

ACTIVITY: Each student will think of an activity that makes them happy. They
must draw their activity but as the opposite of the one they thought of. After
they finish drawing, the other students will try to guess what the real activity is.
The more activities a student guesses, the more points they get.

For instance: Swimming makes me happy.

The opposite activity for swimming could be running. So the student who
thinks of swimming, must draw a representation of running

EVIDENCE: Students will end the class by writing the sentences that are
true/real/accurate to the images they drew.
COPS AND ROBBERS:

LEVEL: A1 - A2

OBJECTIVE: To practice listening and speaking by receiving and following

instructions and answering questions that include emotions vocabulary as well
as nuMbers.

RESOURCES: Flashcards with emotions vocabulary.

Have the two teams (Cops and Robbers) sit in a line facing each other like
this.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 → Cops

9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 → Robbers

Assign the students in each team with a number. Arrange various flashcards
with different emotions in the middle of the room. Also, create a space for a
jail. Call out the name of one of the emotions and a number, e.g. Happiness
- Four. The 'robber' assigned to that number then runs and tries to grab the
emotion and get back to their place before the 'cop' with the same number
tags them. If the robber is successful, the other robbers ask the student,
"What have you got?", and the robber replies, "I've got a happy person." If the
cop tags the robber, the robber has to give the emotion to the cop. The cop
then takes the robber to the jail where they sit out for a few rounds. The other
cops then ask the student, "What have you got?", and the cop answers, "I've
got a/an..." The game continues until all the emotions or flashcards have been
gathered. The team with the most emotions at the end of the game wins.

EVIDENCE: Ss will have a number of flashcards by the end of the activity, the
group with more flashcards wins.
I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE…

LEVEL: A1 - A2

OBJECTIVE: To practice listening and speaking by giving descriptions and

guessing actions or objects that trigger emotions vocabulary.

RESOURCES: Flashcards with emotions vocabulary, leaderboard.

ACTIVITY: Have the students sit in a circle. One student thinks of different
actions from human beings. The student then gives a clue to the chosen thing
by saying, "I spy with my little eye, something that makes people angry."
The other students then take it in turns to try to guess what it is. When a
student correctly guesses the action, they get to choose the next thing for the
other students to guess.

EVIDENCE: Student with more points on the leaderboard wins.

HAPPINESS BALLOONS

LEVEL: A1 - A2

OBJECTIVE: To recognise words and create sentences with coherence

according to what is given.

RESOURCES: Balloons, pieces of paper for the words and cardboard to

related to happiness in English. Students must burst the balloons to obtain the
words and form the sentences they find inside.

teacher.

online tools or simple graphic design applications. Teams must present their
memes and explain in English why they chose those images and text to
express happiness.
