❖Impact Printers:
An impact printer is a type of printing device that
creates text and images on paper by physically striking an inked
ribbon against the paper’s surface, transferring the ink. They work
through the use of a mechanical mechanism, such as a series of
pins, hammers, or typebars, to press the inked ribbon onto the
paper. Some common examples of impact printers are dot matrix
printers, typewriters, and daisy wheel printers.
Characteristics:
❖ Non-Impact Printer:
Characteristics:
❖ Inkjet Printers
It is widely used by home and business computer users that
prints characters by spraying the ink
using magnetic plates on the paper.
It contains a paper feed assembly,
ink cartridge, print head, stabilizer
bar, and belt.
It stores the ink in cartridges, and uses separate cartridge to print
several types of color documents. These colors are a combination
of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black color. These types of printers
have the ability to create high-quality pictures with the help of
vivid colors. Furthermore, the inkjet printers are more affordable
and easier to use as compared to other printers.
▪ Inkjet Printers:
Method: Inkjet printers work by spraying tiny droplets of ink
onto the paper. These droplets are precisely controlled to create
text or images.
Materials: Inkjet printers typically use liquid ink stored in
cartridges. The ink is typically water-based or solvent-based.
▪ Laser Printers:
Method: Laser printers use a laser beam to create an
electrostatic image on a drum, which attracts toner (powdered
ink). The toner is then transferred and fused onto the paper.
Materials: Laser printers use toner cartridges containing
powdered ink, which is fused onto the paper using heat.
