How to deploy a hybrid model (.athm file) to Aspen Plus or Aspen HYSYS?

Solution

Aspen Plus

Import the .athm file into Aspen Plus

1. Open the Aspen Plus case where the hybrid model needs to be added. On the Customize Tab,
click Manage Hybrid Models.
2. Click Browse for Available Model and select the .ATHM file.
Notes: Hybrid models can also be used in Aspen Plus V10 and V11 using a USER2 block after
installing a package available here. SLM license file server must be upgraded to V12 to check
out the hybrid model license and for it to work successfully.

3. Close the window when finished.


Place model on Flowsheet
1. Drag the Hybrid Sensor/Hybrid Equipment model from the model palette to the flowsheet,
and connect streams if necessary.
2. Specify a name to the sensor/equipment model as desired.

3. Enter any inputs to the hybrid model.


4. Run the Aspen Plus model.
5. Click on the Results tab of the hybrid model form to view the results.

Aspen HYSYS

Add Aspen Hybrid Model extension to the Flowsheet

The first step is to create the model. The second step is to deploy the model for use.
1. Open the HYSYS file where the hybrid model needs to be deployed.
2. Open the model palette by pressing F4 or by navigating to View tab of the ribbon.
3. Click External Model in the model palette, or type “Hybrid” in the search field.
4. Drag and drop the Hybrid Model unit operation onto the HYSYS flowsheet, or double click.
Notes: Hybrid models can also be used in Aspen HYSYS V10 and V11 using a HYSYS
extension after an installing a package available here. SLM license file server must be upgraded
to V12 to check out the hybrid model license and for it to work successfully.

Import Aspen Hybrid Model (.ATHM file)


Import the hybrid model downloaded from AI Model Builder into the hybrid model unit
operation.
1. Double click on the newly placed hybrid model
2. Click on “Change Directory” and select the folder where your hybrid model is saved. If you
just exported from the AI Model Builder, it should be in your downloads folder
3. Select your hybrid model file (.athm) from the Available Models pane and click “Load
Model”

4. Once the model is loaded, provide any necessary inputs


5. View results on the results tab or worksheet tabs.
