DESCRIPTION
This service kit provides parts and instructions to replace a VR600A Voltage Regulator with a VR660 Voltage
Regulator and return the airplane wiring to the configuration that was in place prior to the installation of the
VR600A.
NOTE: The VR600A Voltage Regulator is not a factory installed part and would have only been installed as
an after market part.
APPROVAL
FAA approval has been obtained on technical data in this publication that affects airplane type design.
For DGAC Airplanes: DGAC approval has not been obtained on technical data in this publication. The affected
"F" model and serial number airplanes are included for informational purposes. Cessna considers compliance
mandatory on "F" model airplanes regardless.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Electrically ground the airplane and turn all switches to the "OFF" position. If external power is connected
to the airplane, disconnect external power from receptacle.
3. Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle with the following
instruction: DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS.
NOTE: The VR600A Voltage Regulator is not a factory installed part and would have only been installed
as an after market part.
A. For airplanes that are to have a KA210-170-1, VR600A Replacement Kit installed:
(1) Make sure there is continuity in the wire from alternator "BAT" terminal to "A" pin on the
voltage regulator wire harness. (Refer to the applicable Service Manual and wiring diagrams
as necessary.)
B. For airplanes that are to have a KA210-170-2, VR600A Replacement Kit installed:
(1) Make sure there is continuity in the wire from alternator "BAT" terminal to "A" pin on the
voltage regulator wire harness. (Refer to the applicable Service Manual and wiring diagrams
as necessary.)
(2) Make sure the circuit breaker (alternator field) that is installed between the master switch and
power is a 2-amp circuit breaker. If a 2-amp circuit breaker is not installed, remove circuit

breaker and install a CA2 2-amp circuit breaker. (Refer to the applicable Service Manual and
wiring diagrams as necessary.)
NOTE: It may be necessary to remove the pilot's seat to get access to the forward side of
the instrument panel.
NOTE: Use standard shop practices to mount the circuit breaker. Existing mounting holes are
located next to the circuit breaker panel or the glove box.
(3) Install the VR660 Voltage Regulator.
C. For airplanes that are to have a KA210-170-3, VR600A Replacement Kit installed:
(1) Make sure there is continuity in the wire from alternator "BAT" terminal to "A" pin on the
voltage regulator wire harness. (Refer to the applicable Service Manual and wiring diagrams
as necessary.)
(2) Make sure that a 2-amp circuit breaker (alternator field) is installed between the master
switch and power. If the circuit breaker installed is not a 2-amp circuit breaker, remove circuit
breaker and install a CA2 2-amp circuit breaker.
(3) Install a VR660 Voltage Regulator.
(4) Install a OS65 Over Voltage Protection Module. (Refer to the applicable Service Manual and
wiring diagrams as necessary.)
(a) It is likely that red and orange wires spliced together connect the master switch "ALT"
terminal and the 2-amp (alternator field) circuit breaker. Remove insulated connector
between the red and orange wires that connect the master switch "ALT" terminal and the
2-amp (alternator field) circuit breaker.
NOTE: It may be necessary to remove the pilot's seat to get access to the forward
side of the instrument panel.
(b) Crimp and connect an insulated connector to the red wire from the 2-amp (alternator
field) circuit breaker and the red wire from the OS65 Over Voltage Protection Module.
(c) Crimp and connect an insulated connector to the orange wire from the master switch
"ALT" terminal and the orange wire from the OS65 Over Voltage Protection Module.
(d) Crimp an appropriate size ring terminal to the 20 gauge black ground wire from the OS65
Over Voltage Protection Module and attach it to the instrument panel structure.
(e) Attach the Over Voltage Protection Module to the wire harness as necessary with
tie-wraps.

D. For airplanes that are to have a KA210-170-4, VR600A Replacement Kit installed:
(1) Make sure there is continuity in the wire from alternator "BAT" terminal to "A"pin on the
voltage regulator wire harness. (Refer to the applicable Service Manual and wiring diagrams
as necessary.)
(2) Install a VR660 Voltage Regulator.
(3) Install a OS65 Over Voltage Protection Module.
(b) Crimp and connect an insulated connector to the red wire from the 5-amp (alternator
field) circuit breaker and the red wire from the OS65 Over Voltage Protection Module.
(e) Attach the Over Voltage Protection Module to the wire harness as necessary with
tie-wraps.
6. Install the pilot's seat if it was removed.
7. Remove the maintenance warning tags from battery and external power receptacle.
8. Connect the airplane battery. (Refer to the applicable Service Manual.)
9. (Refer to the appropriate Pilot's Operating Handbook or Owner's Manual.) Do an engine ground run to
make sure the alternator and voltage regulator operate correctly.
10. Make an entry in the airplane logbook stating that this Service Kit has been installed.
