Legislation on the control of emissions and pollution prevention should be observed. Workers should be
protected from the possibility of skin or eye contact with molten polymer.
The resin will burn when supplied with excess heat and oxygen. It should be handled and stored away
from contact with direct flames and/or ignition sources. While burning, the resin contributes high heat
and may generate a dense black smoke.
Recycled resins may have previously been used as packaging for, or may have otherwise been in contact
with, hazardous goods. Converters are responsible for taking all necessary precautions to ensure that re-
cycled resins are safe for continued use.
The detailed information about safety, handling, individual protection and waste disposal is provided in
the relevant Safety Data Sheet. Additional specific information can be requested via customer.
Conveying:
Conveying equipment should be designed to prevent accumulation of fines and dust particles. These par-
ticles can, under certain conditions pose an explosion hazard. We recommend that the conveying system
will be equipped with adequate filters and be operated and maintained in the way that ensure no leaks
develop.
Storage:
Polyethylene resins should be protected from direct sunlight and/or heat during storage. The storage lo-
cation should also be dry, dust free and the storage temperature should not exceed 50°C. It is also advis-
able to process polyethylene resins (in pelletized or powder from) within 6 months after delivery, because
excessive aging of polyethylene can lead to a deterioration in quality. Arya Sasol Polymer Company would
not give any warranty to bad storage conditions which may lead to quality deterioration such as color
change, bad smell and inadequate product performance.

Safety:
Molten polymers could be injured skin or eye so safety glasses and appropriate gloves are suggested to
prevent possible thermal injuries. Also, appropriate ventilation is suggested in working by melt polymer.
Accumulation of fines or dust particles that are in this grade is not suitable because of explosion hazard
probability. So adequate filters and grounding exists at all time are recommended.

Name: MDI (KP200)
Description:
Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, most often abbreviated as MDI, is an aromatic diisocyanate. Three iso-
mers are common, varying by the positions of the isocyanate groups around the rings: 2,2'-MDI, 2,4'-MDI,
and 4,4' MDI. The 4,4' isomer is most widely used, and is also known as 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocya-
nate.
Typical Application:
• Rigid foams- used to produce sandwich panels and polyurethane wood.
• Flexible foams – used for the fabrication of prepolymers for bedding, furniture, automotive
seating, flexible packaging and carpet underlay; this is the largest market application for Pol-
ymeric MDI
• “Foamed-in-place” polyurethane plastics – ranging from soft and sponge-like to hard and po-
rous for use in furniture, packaging, insulation and boat building
• Polyurethane coatings – used on leather, wire, tank linings and masonry
• Rigid, “pour-in-place” foams – for use in appliances, and, in smaller amounts, packaging

Handling and storage conditions:
Use special care when handling/transporting samples. Store at 20-30°C. Material sampling procedures
should avoid vapor inhalation and skin/eye contact and only be conducted with proper protective equip-
ment. Handle empty containers with care - residue may be combustible. When cleaning or repairing
equipment contaminated with this material, total encapsulating impervious protective suits, gloves, and
boots should be worn to prevent any contact. Decontaminate empty, non-returnable isocyanate drums
by filling with water. Allow to stand 48 hours with bung removed. After 48 hours, drain and pierce drums.
Wash with sodium carbonate solution (5-10%).
Store in tightly closed/properly vented containers with vents directed to locations removed from potential
personnel exposure. Store in well-ventilated area away from water, moisture, humidity, and direct sun-
light. Store at 20-30°C. Do not store in galvanized or other corrodible containers. Storage and handling in
stainless steel is preferred. Storage in polyethylene containers is hazardous because of absorption of wa-
ter through the plastic.

Name: OTD
Product: OTD
Description:
Ortho toluene-diamine (OTD) is an organic compound with a close formula C6H3CH3(NH2)2. It is a light
gray solid mainly consisted of 2,3-Diamino-Toluene and 3,4-Diamino- Toluene isomers. The compound is
very unstable and tends to darken on storage & exposure to air at room temperature, due to oxidizing
reaction. When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. In KARUN Petrochemical
Company, OTD is produced as a byproduct through some consecutive reactions starting with nitrating
toluene to produce a dinitrotoluene isomer- mixture, followed by catalytic reduction to a mixture of the
corresponding diamines, in presence of Palladium-Platinum (Pd-Pt) Catalyst and terminating to a purifica-
tion process to separate it from the other companion isomers.
Typical Application:
• OTD is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of tolyltriazole that is a corrosion
inhibitor.
• Another application is as a precursor to polyether polyols.
• It also is used in hair and makeup colors production, dye and pharmaceutical industries.

Handling and storage conditions:
Careful consideration should be given to handling this product. Use only with adequate ventilation. Toxic
by inhalation, skin absorption, and ingestion. Irritating to eyes and skin. Do not eat, drink, or smoke in
working area. OTD is readily absorbed through the skin, so skin and eye contact should be prevented. The
handlers must wear special equipment which prohibits contact with skin or eyes. It is recommended to
shower at the end of work shift.
Store OTD in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat generation sources, strong oxidizing agents

Description:
Caustic Soda Solution is a clear, colorless, odorless and slightly viscous liquid. It is miscible with water at
any ratio. Caustic Soda Solution reacts strongly alkaline and is highly corrosive to various materials.
Applications:
Caustic Soda Solution is a strongly alkaline product, which is applied as a chemical reactant or neutraliza-
tion agent in various areas, e.g. in chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, pulp and paper, metal and food in-
dustries, for agriculture, soap and detergent manufacturing or waste water treatment. Caustic Soda Solu-
tion reacts strongly alkaline and is highly corrosive and aggressive to various materials such as aluminum,
magnesium, zinc, glass and many plastic products.

Packaging, Delivery and Storage:
Caustic Soda Solution is transported via railcar or road tanker. Above 25°C and for long storage times,
Caustic Soda Solution should be kept away from air. If exposed to air, Caustic Soda Solution will pick up
carbon dioxide to form sodium carbonate, which may cause haze of the solution.
In order to prevent carbonate formation, storage vessels should have minimized exposure to air, but a
venting possibility to equilibrate pressure during unloading or transfer processes. Heatable storage con-
tainers for Caustic Soda Solution are recommended in order to prevent crystallization during the cold

Name: Ethylene Dichloride (EDC)
Description:
Ethylene dichloride (EDC) is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a faint chloroform-type odour. EDC is used
primarily in the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). Arvand Company’s EDC is produced by ox-
ychlorination and direct chlorination of ethylene at our petrochemical complex located in Iran.
Applications:
The largest use for ethylene dichloride is in the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). More than
half of the total VCM consumption is for construction-related applications, with pipe being the largest
single product. Other products made from PVC resins include flooring, packaging film and sheet, and bot-
