SIMULATOR TRAINING

CHAPTER 61
SIMULATOR TRAINING

After the completion of training at Neyveli we are going to FARIDABAD for the (500
MW) simulator training, which is the last part of module-3. It is now well recognized
that training simulators which recreate realistic working environment and posses
capability of handling all kinds of emergencies. The superior training environments of
simulators provide clear advantages for operator licensing, optimizing plant operating
procedures and reducing costs. Operators trained on simulator environments gain the
skills necessary to increase plant performance, minimize down time and provide
confident emergency response. Complexity of new technologies requires tremendous
initial training and retaining for operator personal.

61.1 ADVANTAGES OF TRAINING SIMULATOR

Simulator offers high flexibility focus and versatility in providing comprehensive and
efficient training. It also offers the realistic environment of power plant control room
for various plant operations. It is an ideal tool for training to build operational skills.

61.2 USES OF TRAINING SIMULATOR

 Overall plant and individual system operation and control.
 Team training to study interaction and improve performances.
 Emergency plant implementation.
 Command of mall function and transient situations.
 Instrumentation and control familiarization.
 Plant process familiarization.
 Highest standard of training for experienced engineers/ operators and new
recruits.
 Operations optimization.
 Reduce unplanned outages.
 Improve plant safety.
 Analysis of plant response of various equipments.
 Efficient plant operations, performance.
