A Step by Step Process To Change The Oil and Oil Filter in A Vehicle

Firstly you should have gathered the necessary tools and materials like a
new oil filter and the amount of oil your car can hold. A wrench would be
necessary, an oil pan, a funnel and some rags and paper towels to clean.
The first thing you should do is lyft the car so you can go under it and
change the oil. You can lift the car by using a jack. When using a jack you should
place it securely. Before you do anything after this make sure the engine of the
vehicle is cool.
Secondly you should start the process of getting ready to drain the oil and
then drain it. Locating the oil drain will be a simple task, you should be able to
see and reach a large nut or plug located under the oil pan at the bottom of the
engine. Make sure an oil pan is placed directly under where the drain plug is, I
would recommend you have multiple oil pans just in case there is more oil than
you expected. Use a wrench to loosen the plug and remove it, it would only take
a few minutes until the oil is completely drained. When done, put the oil cap back
on tightly and securely.
The third step is to locate the oil filter and change the filter , you can find it
attached to the engine. You should use an oil filter to loosen and remove it. An oil
filter may contain oil so place it in an oil pan or in a bucket. The next thing you
will be doing is installing a new oil filter. Apply asall amount of new oil to the
rubber thing on top of the filter, this will help secure it and make an essay to
remove it again next time. Scre the new filter into place by hand until it's tight
then give it an additional half/half turn, make sure to not tighten it too tight.
The fourth step is to finally pour in the new oil. Locate the oil filter cap on
TOP of your engine and remove it and place the funnel in the opening. Pour the
new oil in carefully, make sure you check the oil level with a dipstick to make sure
you added the correct amount. Then replace the oil filter cap when you're done.
The final thing to do is to check for leaks anywhere. Make sure you check the
vehicle before turning it on. Turning it on with leaks can cause it to have a
problem running.
