How to code using ICD-11?

Precoordination and postcoordination
Some stem codes contain all pertinent information about a condition.
This is referred to as ‘precoordination’.

Sometimes further details are needed. This can be done by applying


more than one code, or by ‘postcoordinating’ (i.e. combining codes):

two or more stem code(s) and/or extension code(s).

The process is called ‘Postcoordination’.


A group of codes that have been postcoordinated is called a ‘cluster’.
