At the end of the discussion the students can:

a. Identify what is cultural criticism


b. acquire an understanding of the cultural criticism in the story “The wedding dance” and;
c. Create a role playing of the story.

“Picture it Out”
 The teacher will present pictures and the students will analyze and state
their observations.

B. Lesson Proper

1. Activity

“Let’s read together”

 The student will find their pair and read the story
 they will share their understanding in the story

b. Analysis

The teacher will ask the students these questions:

 What do you think is the importance of culture?


 Are all cultural practices good for the community?

c. Abstraction

● The teacher will begin to discuss the Cultural Criticism and incorporate it with the story “The
wedding Dance”.

Cultural criticism in literature refers to the analysis and interpretation of literary works from a
cultural perspective. It involves examining how literature reflects and critiques social, political,
economic, and religious aspects of a society.

d. Application

“Act it out”

 The teacher will group the students into four.


 Task them to do a short role playing that will highlight the culture and tradition of the
story.
 Each group will be given 20 minutes to do brainstorming and 10 minutes to perform.

e. Evaluation
 The student will answer the following question:
1. How does the culture shape the society?
2. If you will be awiyao will you do the same?
 they will write it in one whole piece of yellow paper
f. Assignment

 The students will be tasked to do advanced reading about the story of “Desiree’s
baby”
