List Style Categories and Formatting in Open Office Writer


Objective:
To learn how to use and apply different styles in Open Office Writer, including selecting styles,
using Fill Format, creating and updating styles, loading styles from templates, and creating new
styles using drag-and-drop.

Software Required: Open Office Writer

Procedure
1. Select a Style from the Styles and Formatting Window

 Open Open Office Writer.


 Press F11 to open the Styles and Formatting window.
 Click on the List Styles tab.
 Select a style from the available list styles (e.g., Numbering 1, Bullet 1).
 Apply the selected style to a list in your document.

2. Use Fill Format to Apply a Style to Multiple Areas

 Open the Styles and Formatting window (F11).


 Select the desired style.
 Click the Fill Format Mode (paintbrush icon).
 Click on different text areas to apply the style quickly.
 Press Esc to exit Fill Format Mode.

3. Create and Update a New Style from a Selection

 Format a paragraph or list manually as per your preference.


 Select the formatted text.
 Open Styles and Formatting (F11).
 Click on the New Style from Selection button.
 Name the new style and save it.
 To update the style, make changes in the text and click Update Style.

4. Create a New Style Using Drag-and-Drop

 Format a piece of text manually.


 Drag the formatted text into the Styles and Formatting window.
 Give the new style a name.
 The new style will now be available for use in the document.

Result:
By following these steps, we can effectively use and manage List Styles in Open Office Writer,
improving document formatting and consistency.

Working with Images, Drawing Objects, and Templates in Open


Office Writer
Objective:

To learn how to insert, modify, and manage images and drawing objects in Open Office Writer,
and to work with document templates.

Software Required: Open Office Writer

Procedure
1. Insert an Image into a Document
 Open Open Office Writer.
 Click on Insert > Picture > From File.
 Select an image from your computer and click Open.
2. Modify, Resize, Crop, and Delete an Image
 Click on the inserted image.
 Resize by dragging the corner handles.
 To crop, click Format > Image > Crop and adjust the selection.
 To delete, select the image and press Delete.
3. Create Drawing Objects and Resize and Group Drawing Objects
 Click on View > Toolbars > Drawing to enable the Drawing toolbar.
 Select a shape (rectangle, circle, line, etc.) and draw it in the document.
 To group multiple objects, select them, right-click, and choose Group or
 Format->Group->Group
4. Position an Image in the Text
 Click on the image.
 Select Wrap options from the toolbar (e.g., Wrap Through, Wrap Tight).
 Adjust the position as needed.
5. Create and Use Templates
 Click on File > Templates > Save As Template. Name the template and save it.
 To use a predefined template, click File > New > Templates, then choose a template.
 To update a document using a different template, click File > Templates > Manage and
select the desired template.

Result:

Successfully inserted, modified, and positioned images and drawing objects in a document. Also,
created and used templates in Open Office Writer.
