Review the previous lesson.
The teacher will review the previous lesson by engaging students in a brief
discussion and asking the following questions:

2. Can you give me the 5 techniques of prewriting.
3. Why do you think prewriting is very important?
C. Activity
1. WORD SEARCH

students must find all the listed words hidden horizontally, vertically,
diagonally, or backward. The teacher will instruct students to circle each
word they find and check it off the list.

2. Lesson Proper
What is Writing Process?
Writing process is a series of steps that writers follow to create well-
structured and polished pieces of writing.
Stages of Writing
 Prewriting
 Drafting
 Revising
 Editing
 Publishing

Prewriting is the thinking and planning the writer does before drafting
and throughout the writing process, including considering the topic,
audience, and purpose; gathering information; choosing a form; and
making a plan for organizing and elaborating ideas.
This is the first or the preparation stage where writers generate ideas,
gather information, and organize their thoughts before writing.
 Prewriting is the process of coming up with ideas for your essay.
 This is not formal, polished writing.
 There are many prewriting techniques, but we will be discussing:

 Brainstorming
A technique used to quickly generate many ideas about a
topic.
It helps generate a wide range of ideas quickly.
 Freewriting
A writing exercise where you write continuously for a set
time without worrying about grammar, spelling, or
structure.
It helps overcome writer’s block and develop ideas
naturally.
 Questioning (5ws and H)
A technique used to explore a topic by asking and
answering who, what, when, where, why, and how
questions.
It helps develop a deeper understanding and uncover
different angles.
 Clustering
A visual method of organizing ideas by connecting related
thoughts using circles and lines.
It helps organize thoughts and see connections between
ideas.
 Outlining
A structured way of organizing ideas in a logical order
before writing.
It is useful for organizing thoughts logically before
drafting.
Reasons for Prewriting:
 Students who use prewriting strategies are more effective writers
because they are able to more successfully choose and narrow a
topic.

 Prewriting also helps writers develop the topic and plan how to
write about it.
Why is it Important?
 Prewriting helps you:
 Organize your thoughts
 Begin your research
 Explore ideas that might have otherwise
been undiscovered

D. Analysis
The teacher will ask the students about the topic using the following questions:
1. What are the root causes of the environmental problem you have
identified?
2. How do these problems impact the community or the world?
3. Which brainstorming strategies (e.g., mind mapping, listing,
freewriting) are most effective in generating creative and practical
solutions to the problem? Why?

E. Abstraction
The teacher will ask the students what they have learned using the following
questions:
1. Why is it important to identify and address environmental issues in our
community and beyond?
2. How does the prewriting stage of the Writing Process help in
developing well-structured ideas for solving environmental problems?
3. What role does creativity play in brainstorming solutions for
environmental preservation?
4. How can writing and communication influence environmental
awareness and inspire action?
5. In what ways can collaboration during brainstorming lead to stronger
and more effective solutions for environmental issues?

F. Application
Imagine you are environmental investigators, and your task is to identify the
specific problem, determine its causes and effects, and brainstorm possible
solutions. Write your answer in ½ sheet of paper.

Oceanville is a small coastal town known for its beautiful

beaches, diverse marine life, and thriving tourism industry. However, in
recent years, residents and visitors have noticed concerning changes in
the environment. Fishermen report a decline in fish populations, making
it harder for them to sustain their businesses. Local businesses, especially
those relying on tourism, have also suffered as visitor numbers decrease.
Some tourists have complained about polluted beaches, unpleasant
smells, and visible litter along the shorelines. Plastic bottles, food
wrappers, and fishing nets are often found on the sand, raising concerns
about waste management and ocean pollution. While some of the trash
comes from visitors, inadequate waste disposal systems and ocean
currents bringing in debris from other areas may also be contributing to
the issue.

IV. EVALUATION
Read each question carefully. Choose the correct answer from the given options
and write the letter of your chosen answer on your paper.
