01 BALANCE
It is the distribution of the
visual weight of objects,
colors, texture, and space.
Balance Symmetrical
can be
achieved in Asymmetrical
3 different
ways: Radial Balance
SYMMETRICAL
In symmetrical balance, the
elements used on one side
of the design are similar to
those on the other side
ASYMMETRICAL
In asymmetrical balance,
the sides are different but
still look balanced.
RADIAL BALANCE
In radial balance, the
elements are arranged
around a central point and
may be similar.
02 CONTRAST
Contrast, when it comes to art,
is achieved when opposite
elements are arranged
together.
Examples of Contrast
03 EMPHASIS
It is the part of the design
that catches the viewer’s
attention.
Examples of Emphasis
04 MOVEMENT
It is the result of using the
elements of art such that they
move the viewer's eye around
and within the image.
Examples of Movement
05 PATTERN
It is the repeating of an
object or symbol all over
the work of art.
Examples of Pattern
06 RHYTHM
It is created when one or more
elements of design are used
repeatedly to create a feeling
of organized movement.
Examples of Rhythm
07 VARIETY
It is the use of several elements
of design to hold the viewer’s
attention and to guide the
viewer’s eye through and
around the work of art.
Examples of Variety
IDENTIFICATION

catches the viewer’s attention
and usually the artist will
make one area stand out by
contrasting it with other areas.
EMPHASIS
