Agapito “Butch” Aquino and the August Twenty-One Movement or ATOM joined
the Coup Plotters. Agapaito “Butch” Aquino is a senator and a brother of the
assassinated senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino.
Jaime Cardinal Sin using the Catholic Radio Station – Radyo Veritas- rallied the
faithful to go to Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue or EDSA to protect Enrile, Ramos
and the rebel soldiers against the soldiers under the command of General Fabian
Ver who were loyal to Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.

A Catholic Church named EDSA Shrine is built on the spot where people gathered
on February 25, 1986.

February 25, 1986 - the Marcos Family fled for Hawaii.

Corazon C. Aquino, the wife of the assassinated Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino was

present 1987 Constitution.

Aquino.

Rodrigo R. Duterte became President in 2016, the first from Mindanao.

In 2022, Ferdinand “Bong Bong” R. Marcos Jr. won overwhelmingly against VP

Leny Robredo under the UNITEAM.

In the span of 60 years, 2 Marcoses, 2 Macapagals, 2 Aquinos had sat as the

President of the Philippines. And another, Duterte trying to follow her father’s
footsteps in 2028. Will their stars continue to be aligned?

Our democracy went through the darkest period of our history under the 14
years of autocratic rule of “strongman” Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.

With all its imperfections and “kapalpakan”, starting from coup d’etat attempts
during the Cory Aquino’s Presidency to Ramos’ Centennial Expo scandal, Erap
Estrada’s impeachment trial, Gloria Arroyo’s Hello Garci Call to rig the election
results, Noynoy Aquino’s Mamasapano SAF 44 Massacre, Duterte’s War on Drugs,
and PBBM, Dutertes and Romualdez fight over confidential fund and “pork
barrel” fund … Imagine where we are now if the 1986 EDSA People Power
Revolution did not happen.

To trivialize, downgrade, distort, deny or revise the historical narratives is a great

disservice to the heroes and martyrs who offered their lives in order for us to
enjoy the blessings of being FREE. Attempts such as these can serve as a tipping
point for people to say, “Tama Na, Sobra Na.” “Tama na Sobra na” was the
slogan that Filipinos scream against Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.

Dameans, imagine what we could have become without the EDSA People Power
Revolution of February 25, 1986?
Let us pause for a moment and thank God for the blessings of EDSA People
Power Revolution of February 25, 1986.
