This dissertation examines the effectiveness of laws protecting the employment rights of persons with intellectual disabilities in Zambia, highlighting the gap between international standards and local implementation. It argues for a shift from a charity-based approach to a rights-based approach as mandated by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). The paper also provides recommendations for legislative improvements to enhance employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Zambia.
