FL: Hashtag, typical day. Hashtag, selfie. Hashtag, snapshot. Hashtag, be one
with me. Hashtag, no photo editing.
FL: I’m an outcast in school. But when I come home... I’m Genie, a social
media star with 770,000 followers. Inside a small screen, I am lived by so
many people.
FL: People might wonder how life could be fun for someone so ugly. It’s a
thrill I’ve never felt in my life. Living in a sense of superiority no one else has
ever felt before might be a better way of living.
Bully 1: You should answer when somebody calls you! (Lifts FL’s head) Hey!
Bully 1: (Grabs FL’s head with both hands) Friend! Even if you put lipstick on
a pig, it’s still a pig! Have you absolutely gone nuts?
FL: As soon as I’m found out... what will you think of me?
Guy: You’re ugly enough as it is! And this is how you act? I feel like throwing
up!
(FL chokes)
Bully 1: You think I’m joking around? You think you can play with me loser?
You ugly bitch!
Bully 2: Wait! From this face (shows picture of edited FL) to this face? (Shows
picture of FL’s unfiltered face.)
Bully 1: Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the ugliest of them all?
FL: Because you’re good looking yourself, the whole world must look
beautiful. I wish... I was beautiful too.
Segment 4: Acceptance
Guy: But... Half moon or crescent, they’re booth the same. It’s just hidden in
shadow. A real thing that’s laid bare without anything hidden. That’s why I
like the full moon. It’s the real thing. Just like you.
FL: What do I need to show... to receive likes from them? And what do I need
to do... to receive hearts from them?
FL: The notifications for the hearts and likes appeared briefly. The view count
went up. I knew the comments weren’t sincere, but I still wanted to believe
them.
FL: I used to be Genie. A social media queen... with 770,000 followers. But
here’s the truth. FL name, the real individual who hid behind Genie’s face,
was me, a girl who was called ugly and a loser. Up until now, I compared
myself... to unrealistic beauty standards. And I ground [FL name]... to dust.
(FL’s new post received the likes.)
FL: You see... It’s okay not to be perfect. (FL smiles confidently)
