The document covers the Kinetic Particle Model of matter, detailing the relationship between particle motion and temperature, the concept of absolute zero, and how gas pressure relates to particle motion. It also introduces Brownian Motion, which describes the random movement of microscopic particles. Additionally, it outlines the properties, structure, and state changes of solids, liquids, and gases.

Kinetic Particle Model of
Matter
Objectives
1. Relation between Motion of particle with temperature.
2. Absolute Zero Temperature
3. Pressure of gas in terms of motion of particle
4. Brownian Motion
Relation between Motion of particle with temperature
● The motion of the particles is increased by raising the temperature.

● Conversely, the motion of the particles is reduced by lowering the temperature, until, at
the absolute zero (0 K), the motion of the particles ceases altogether.

● Because the particles are in motion, they will have kinetic energy.
Absolute Zero Temperature
● Absolute zero is the lowest temperature possible.

● At a temperature of absolute zero there is no motion and no heat.

● Absolute zero occurs at a temperature of 0 kelvin, or -273.15 degrees Celsius, or at -

460 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pressure of gas in terms of motion of particle
● If they move faster, the particles will exert a greater force on the container each time
they hit the walls, which leads to an increase in the pressure of the gas
Brownian Motion
● Brownian Motion: the random motion of microscopic particles when observed through a
microscope.

● Brownian motion is the random movement of particles in a liquid or a gas produced by

large numbers of collisions with smaller particles which are often too small to see
