2.1 Critical Self-Reflection & Project Management Learning from Group

Assignment Brief:
This individual self-reflection assignment, worth 10% of the overall module grade, requires you to
critically evaluate your learning from the group project undertaken as part of the MNA1121 module.
Your reflection should be analytical, demonstrating a clear connection between your learning and
specific aspects of your group project experience. It should be supported by concrete examples and
written to a high academic standard.

Reflection Guidelines:
1. Group Performance and Learning:
o Evaluate the group’s overall performance in the project, identifying key strengths and
areas for improvement. Discuss what was learned from a project management
perspective, explaining its significance.
2. Individual Performance and Learning:
o Reflect on your personal contribution to the group project, assessing your strengths
and challenges. Identify key project management lessons gained from your
experience and explain their relevance.
3. Future Application and Development:
o Based on your learning, outline any changes you intend to make in future group
projects or professional settings. Discuss the anticipated benefits of these changes, as
well as potential challenges in their implementation.

Sustainability is a critical aspect of contemporary project management across various industries and
project scales. This assignment requires you to critically analyse the implementation of sustainable project
management practices, considering different methodologies, technological advancements, and
applications across diverse sectors.

Your analysis should:


• Evaluate the integration of sustainability within various project management methodologies.
• Assess the role of emerging technologies in promoting sustainable project outcomes.
• Examine the application of sustainable project management principles across different industries
and project scales.
• Reflect on insights gained from guest lectures and real-world examples.

Instructions
While your essay should comprehensively address some of the indicative key focus areas outlined below,
you are encouraged to structure your report thematically or analytically rather than following the order
presented. This approach will allow for a more integrated and critical discussion.

Indicative Key Focus Areas


Critically analyze how sustainability is integrated into traditional, agile, and hybrid project management
methodologies. Discuss how these methodologies can be adapted to meet sustainability goals in various
contexts. Examine how project management practices can be aligned with the UN SDGs. Identify specific
goals that are pertinent to various industries and discuss strategies for projects to contribute meaningfully
to these objectives. Evaluate the challenges and benefits of integrating SDG considerations into project
planning and execution. Explore the role of emerging technologies in promoting sustainable project
management, providing examples where technology has been leveraged to achieve sustainability in
projects. Examine the application of sustainable project management principles in sectors such as
construction, software development, and humanitarian aid, discussing how sustainability considerations
differ between small-scale and large-scale projects. Reflect on key takeaways from guest lectures,
including the impact of leadership styles and strategies, linking them to your analysis, and incorporate
real-world examples to illustrate the implementation of sustainable practices in project management.
