Project Overview:
The objective of this project is to provide students with the opportunity to analyze and
report on a real-world case study in Operations Management (OM). Working in a group
of four members, students will select a specific operational challenge, problem, or
opportunity faced by a company or group of companies in a specific sector, which led to
either a success or failure in operational performance. This project aims to apply
theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios, encourage critical thinking, and develop
analytical skills in operations management.
Project Guidelines:
1. Case Study Selection:
o Choose a company or a sector that faced significant operational
challenges or opportunities.
o The case study should focus on an operational issue that resulted in either
a success or a failure.
o Obtain approval for your chosen topic and presentation date by October
8, 2024.
2. Suggested Areas of Focus:
o Strategic Planning
o Supply Chain Management
o Inventory Management
o Production Planning and Control
o Quality Control and Assurance
o Lean Operations and Continuous Improvement

3. Project Contents: The report should include the following sections:

the solution.
▪ Outcomes and results of the implementation (e.g., cost savings,
efficiency gains).
o 4. Comparative Analysis:
▪ Comparison of the company’s approach to similar challenges faced
by competitors.

o 5. Conclusion and Recommendations:
▪ Summary of findings.
