Distribution
Distribution is the way in which the media product gets to the audience.
There are three ways in which a magazine is distributed, and they are:
● Retail.
● Subscription.
● Digital Download.
Distribution Company for Total Film:
For Total Film magazines, they are distributed via a
distribution company called MarketForce, throughout their
30 year history, they are able to distribute to 70 territories
worldwide and were founded in 2005 who was originally
owned by TI media but in 2019 Future Plc acquired
MarketForce from TI Media. MarketForce is one of the best
distribution companies for independent publishers, they
work with a wide range of magazine clients and help them
grow their businesses and help to make sure that their magazine’s stand out to the public.
Their aim is to deliver a well- governed business and also to help to make businesses more
sustainable for our planet.

Getting the Magazine
Retail:
Most supermarkets such as ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Tesco all sell a wide range of magazine
genres that are organised by genre so people have a wide variety of magazine options they
can look at, the magazine’s are able to be checked out by the shoppers and they can see
what is inside of the magazine issue and if they like it they can easily buy it in the shop. It is
useful because they can pick out the specific magazine that they want instead of buying a
whole year version of the magazine instead. The price of a magazine issue in a shop is
around £2.23-£10.00 due to a multiple of reasons such as the brand of the magazine or if
the magazine is a limited edition version and for Total Film, their magazine issues sell for
£4.99 in local shops.

The subscription for Total Film magazine can range from 6 months which includes 6
magazine issues and can all be bought online instead of buying in person, a 12 month
subscription which can give the audience 13 magazine issues and a 24 month subscription
which can give the audience 26 magazine issues. This helps as the people who buy these
subscriptions will not have to worry about missing the latest issue of the magazine and with
the magazine arriving directly at their houses, it helps the audience going to multiple shops
just to find a specific magazine issue. The 6 month subscription plan costs £23.49, the 12
month plan costs £50.99 and the 24 month subscription costs £93.99 and usually a
subscription is cheaper than the retail price for the magazine.

Digital download is a way in which the audience can buy, download and read the magazine
issue on their phone or electronic device which is an easier way of finding a specific
magazine issue a person wants and it’s usually cheaper than a subscription version and the
retail version of the magazine. The digital version of Total Film magazine issues are £2.99
and also with it being on your phone instead of being a physical copy, it helps you to not lose
the magazine and it also leads to you not having to have a stack of magazines lying around
your house but instead there all in one place that you bring around really easily. Another
reason why a digital download of the magazine is good is because it helps to reduce the
amount of trees being cut down which gets turned into paper for the magazines.
