2. c. Interpreter
3. b. Object
4. b. High-level
D. Answer the following questions.
1. Machine language is expressed in binary form, i.e., 0s and 1s where 0 means 'Off' state and 1
means 'On' state. It is the only language that a computer understands.
2. Machine language is expressed in binary form, i.e., 0s and 1s where 0 means 'Off' state and 1
means 'On' state. It is extremely machine-dependent. That is why machine language is also
called as Low-level Language (LLL).
Assembly Language uses Mnemonic codes or Symbols in place of 0s and 1s. Since assembly
language uses symbolic codes, it is easier to work with assembly language than machine
language. It is also regarded as a Low-level language.
3. Two features of a high-level language are:
• Simple and user-friendly language
• Machine-independent language
4. An interpreter translates a program written in high-level language into a low-level language,
line-by-line. A compiler is a translator program, which is used to convert a high-level language
program into machine language. It translates the whole program at once.
5. Three characteristics of the fourth generation languages are:
• Highly user-friendly and independent of any operating system
• Very high speed of execution, designed to reduce the level of programming efforts

process of sending bulk mail to customers, subscribers, or general individuals.
2. The following are some of the benefits of mail merge:
• Produces mass mail
• Makes changes in letters easily
3. It is the document that contains the text that you wish to send to all the recipients. Data
source consists of mailing list.
4. The Select Address List button under the Insert Address Block section is used to create a
recipient list for the main document.

F. Answer the following questions.

1. Pencil2D provides a versatile and an easy way to create graphics and animations. The
animations and graphics created in Pencil2D can be scaled to any size without losing the clarity
or quality.
Some of the main components of the Pencil2D interface are described as follows:

Copyright @ Kips Learning Pvt. Ltd 2022

Title Bar: It displays the application name and file name in which you are working. It also
displays the Control buttons: Close, Minimize, and Maximize on its left side.
Menu Bar: This bar contains various menus, such as File, Edit, View, Animation, and Tools.
Stage: This is a rectangular area where you place contents or create drawings or animations.
Tools Palette: It contains a set of tools to draw, paint, select, and modify the objects in the
workspace. Most of the Pencil2D tools work similar to the tools as in any paint software.
2. Move tool is used to move the selected object. Whereas, the Select tool is used to select an
object on the stage.
3. The major components of the Timeline are Layers, Frames, and Play head.
Layers — Layers are like multiple film strips stacked on top of one another. Every layer contains
its own timeline with endless frames.
4. When a series of images appear one after another in a fixed interval of time, then it displays
some movement. This can be termed as an Animation. It involves a series of still images, usually
painted or sketched, displayed in a rapid sequence.
5. Frames in Pencil2D can be defined as little rectangular cells, which appear on the Timeline.
Frames control the duration of the movie. A Key is a frame in which you can define change in
the object for an animation. The change may be resizing, rotating, adding, moving, or deleting
the object.

• It is an easy to learn general-purpose programming language.
• It is a platform independent programming language, which means it can be used on any
machine and operating system.
• It has a simple syntax.
• Python is a case-sensitive language.
2. When you are working with the values in Python, you require some storage locations to hold
the values for later use. Such storage locations are known as variables.
Rules to write the variable names are:
• A variable name must start with an alphabet (capital or small) or an underscore ( _ ).
• A variable name may consist of alphabets, digits, and underscore. No other character is
allowed.
• A Python keyword cannot be used as a variable name.
• A variable name can be of any length.
• Variable names are case-sensitive (e.g., Age and age are different variable names).
3. You can work in Python in two modes:
• Interactive Mode: In the interactive mode of Python, you can execute a single command
and obtain the result immediately.
• Script Mode: For writing lengthy programs in Python, the Script mode is used. Using this
mode, you can create and edit Python programs.
4. In Python, a data type represents the type of data stored in a variable. Two data types in
Python are:
Integer (Int): It represents integral numbers (numbers without any fractional part).
Floating Point (float): It represents floating point values (numbers with fractional part).
5. The print() function in Python is used to print a message or value on the output device.
Two separators used with the print() function are:
Using ',' operator: When you use ',' operator as the separator among the values, the values are
displayed with a space between them.
Using '\t' (tab space): When you use '\t' escape sequence as the separator among the values,

Washing Machine – Simple-level Robots
Mitra Robot – Launched by Indian Prime Minister
Robot-assisted Surgery – Service Robot
D. Answer the following questions.
1. Depending upon the use and application, robots can be classified into three types:
Simple Level Robots: These robots are simple and cannot carry out heavy or complex tasks.
They are basically, just able to support humans in their daily tasks. For example, washing
machines.
Middle Level Robots: These robots once programmed cannot be reprogrammed and have
sensor-based circuits, which can perform multiple tasks. For example, fully automatic washing
machines.
Complex Level Robots: These robots can be programmed and reprogrammed easily. They have
complex model-based circuits. For example, laptops or computers.
2. Fixed Robots: These are mostly used in industries with a well-defined work environment,
adapted for robots. These robots perform specific repetitive tasks, like painting parts in a car
manufacturing plant. With high capacity sensors, they are also used increasingly for high-
precision surgery.
Mobile Robots: They move around and perform tasks in large, uncertain environments. They
are quite helpful in situations that are not defined in advance and keep on changing over time.
They deal with unpredictable entities, like humans and even animals. Self-driving cars, vacuum
cleaners, and drones are some common examples of mobile robots.
3. Service robots have improved sensors and interact with humans closely. They are used to
assist humans in tasks, like cleaning (vacuum cleaners), transportation (self-driving cars),
defence applications (drones), and medical procedures (surgery), etc.
4. Some famous Indian robots are:
a. Daksh: An electrically powered and remotely controlled robot used for locating and destroying
harmful objects safely.
b. IRA 2.0: HDFC bank’s humanoid robot assistant to answer the frequently asked questions by
customers.
c. Mitra: It was launched by PM Narendra Modi and Ms Ivanka Trump at GES conference 2017.
d. Manav: It is India’s first 3D-printed humanoid robot. It can perform pushups and play football.
5. The robots that show intelligent behaviour after getting programmed are called Artificially
Intelligent Robots. These are the future of technology. With the further research and
development, you can expect the artificially-intelligent robots to start behaving like humans.
