Overview of the Internship
I had the chance to obtain real-world experience and industry insights in the field of Human
Resources (HR) during my month-long summer internship. This internship has helped me to
understand and take part in the daily operations of the HR department. I was exposed to a variety
of HR tasks, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and
development, pay and benefits, while working under the guidance of seasoned HR professionals.
My one-month internship has definitely given me a great deal of exposure, and has also
improved my knowledge and industry-specific abilities, which will be useful when I start looking
for a career.

Weekly Progress Report
Week 1
The initial few days were all about learning how things work in the organisation. My induction
where I was oriented about the company, my roles and responsibilities etc happened on the first
day along with completion of documentation formalities. I was exposed to recruitment after that
as I started making calls to candidates who had applied for openings in the organisation. During
this process, I was able to understand in detail how telephonic interviews work. I also did a few
graphic designing Instagram posts for the organisation for the employees performance incentive.
I was allowed to further perform more duties in the recruitment process where now along with
calling candidates, I worked on document verification of the candidates, doing their confirmation
calls, drafting offer letters to the selected candidates and mailing the same. I was also assisting
my supervisor in conducting interviews and was asked to observe how the process goes and how
people are during interviews.
Week 2
During the second week, I also took up tasks related to the induction process for the newly
recruited and assisted in their joining formalities. I was given the opportunity to handle and
conduct the initial stage of interviews where my role as an interviewer was to explain the history
of the organisation, focus on the job role and description, lay out basic rules and regulations
associated with that job role and conduct interviews where I had to assess candidates based on
their communication skills, confidence and attitude. I was also given an opportunity to go out on
the field with other employees and explore how branding and promotion works and was allowed
to give a few pitches in the B2B platform.
Week 3
The third week was a much more comprehensive learning experience as apart from all the tasks
that I had already been performing, I was exposed to the “naukri” platform and was allowed to
work on it after some basic training. I had to search for prospective candidates, screen them and
call and schedule interviews. I used the mailing and job posting features in naukri for the same.
Additionally, the task of ideating and developing a few employee engagement activities was also
assigned to me and the same had to be executed. I also was performing administrative related
tasks and hence was working on MS Office. I also got insights into how payroll management
works for the employees and how their pay is processed and incentives given to them based on
their performance. Data entry and analysis of the same was undertaken. I was let to do the
performance review of the newly recruited employees and give them feedback on their
performance.
Week 4
The final week of internship was nothing less than a complete experience of what the life of a
HR Recruiter looks like. From sourcing candidates, to screening and shortlisting their profiles,
conducting interviews and rejecting less suitable candidates, drafting offer letters and
appointment letters and sending them to the selected candidates, completing joining formalities
and documentation, understanding how payroll management works to conducting training
sessions and I was let to do the performance review of the newly recruited employees and give
them feedback on their performance, it was a complete learning experience that came into action.
It felt like the jigsaw puzzle finally came together after all the pieces had been put together.
Apart from these, I also looked into inventory management, did a few admin related tasks and
ensured that there was a smooth transition after I left by completing the handovers on time with
all necessary details and documents.
Learning Outcomes and Reflections
The internship has given me a lot of learning opportunities in aspects like knowledge and
understanding, honing my skills, developing the right attitude and values in the professional
environment while making sure these experiences transform into my life and equip me better
when I wish to enter into a professional working space.
● Documentation and mails made me understand how important maintaining records are
for future reference. Maintaining a proper set of documents and mail trail also facilitated
a smooth transition and handover. Verifying documents of candidates becomes necessary
and essential as that serves as a background check and ensures that there are no fake
documents that are being submitted.
● During interviews with candidates, I was able to understand the importance of non-verbal
cues that tell us a lot about the person and the current state that they are in. I could
observe the traits as described by Karen Horney in her “Theory of Neurotic Needs” when
people answered that they wanted this job as they wish to have power or maintain their
family prestige or as they wanted to be self-sufficient and left alone etc.
● Insights from the field helped me understand that different people might have different
motives that may be intrinsic or extrinsic in nature which will move them and so
identifying that will be the key to convert our pitch.
● Hands-on experience on the Naukri interface will definitely come handy and will help me
get an edge over the others in the future.
● Training and development has helped me gain a practical feel of how these sessions work
and where all I could improve on and how people react to various methods of training
and engagement.
● Working on employee performance appreciation and promotional posts helped me
practically look at the Maslow's Need hierarchy theory and its effects. These kinds of
incentives and promotions boosted the job satisfaction and morale of the employees and
helped them fulfill their affiliation(social) and esteem needs.
● Conducting interviews helped me boost my confidence, communication while also
developing my skills as a professional recruiter. Designing and developing employee
engagement activities helped me understand the diversity in a workspace and how to
cater to all their needs and wants.
● Looking at the payroll management and the additional incentives based on the
performance, I was able to understand the importance of incentives and how they can
play a vital role in getting the best out of your employees.
● I have also been able to enhance organisational skills by managing multiple HR tasks and
projects simultaneously.
● Developed a deeper understanding of HR processes, procedures and administration.
● Apart from this, understanding workplace dynamics, career development, being ethically
aware and extending my network of people were takeaways from this internship.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, this internship experience has been nothing short of a journey of self exploration,
learning and growth coming out of my comfort zone and using this one month break into a
productive stream.
I am thankful to my class teacher, Dr. Maharishi, for his unwavering guidance and support
throughout this journey. His encouragement has been pivotal in navigating the various challenges
and learning opportunities encountered in the process of this summer internship.
I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to UNIQUE Org and its Managing Director,
Ms. Shubhangi Shivaji Shinde Ma'am, for placing their trust in me and providing me with this
exceptional opportunity to intern at their esteemed organisation. The experience and knowledge
gained during my time at UNIQUE Org have been truly enriching and will undoubtedly
contribute significantly to my future career.
I hope and am really looking forward to more of such practical, application based real time
learning experiences.
